Juvenile Academy

U5

Another great training session this morning with our under 5 superstars. We’ll done to our players of the week Faye Fitzmaurice and Harry Poff .See you all again next week for more fun, all newcomers very welcome to join.

U7

We had a very enjoyable session this morning in the I.t Tralee sports campus. Down a few coaches but Liam and James somehow managed to get the best out of them. They practised all the skill, played a few fun games and even tried to play a full length game of football. They are looking forward to next week as everyone is picking up more and more skills as they go along. It was also great to see a few new faces there today

U8 Girls

We had 14 girls for our second enthusiastic session on Sunday morning in MTU. It was great to welcome newcomers to St Pats & girls joining us for the first time this season. We had a high energy session with fun and games designed to work on fundamentals of movement, all our skills in a fun and positive environment. The rosy cheeks and smiles said it all!
Very well done to Olivia Crotty for taking a bump & continuing in great spirits. Keep up the practice & movement girls. The more the merrier are welcome. Please do rsvp to the events on foireann so we can gauge the numbers attending each week.

U9

The u9s had great numbers this week with all our newcomers showing brilliant enthusiasm and a great skill level as well. They perfected their hand passing, soloing and had brilliant fun learning how to “punt kick”. They finished with one of the most competitive games the coaches have ever seen with a last minute goal from Fionn Sharp the difference.

U10 Girls
U10 Girls trained Sunday morning 27th at Kerry Sports Academy. 11 girls played fun games coached by Noel, Labhraidh and Nigel. They practiced pick up’s, solo’s, hand passing and kicking. Finishing with a match the girls showed great improvement already on only their second session. They made the job of picking a player of the week very hard this week. Well done to Rosie Dennehy this week’s player of the week. Rosie’s solo, kicking and passing were brilliant today and had 2 goals in the match to show for her hard work. Well done Rosie and everyone keep up the good work and keep up the practice at home. See you all next week.

U11 Boys

Due to the recent inclement weather, our u11’s only got to start their season last Sunday and we had a great turnout of 21 keen and eager young men. It was great to see so many of last year’s U9’s join the ranks as well as two new players. They started with a solo game to warm up, then some target practice in front of goals and they finished with some conditioned games.
Thanks to coaches Michael, Fiacc, Brian and Joe for putting the lads through their paces. Training continues in the MTU Astro on Sundays from 11am to 12pm for now. Their first game will be in a few weeks where they will enter the Tralee/St Brendan’s U11 League before the County League starts in April.

U13 Boys

The under 13’s had their first training session at the MTU Astro, with coaches John, Conor and Fergal. It was a good active session where they practiced ball control, movement and tackling. The boys showed good enthusiasm towards the training.

In the Tralee/St Brendan’s Under 13 League sponsored by Timberland, Kitchens and Flooring St Pats are in Division 2 who will play Kerins O Rahillys on the 6th of March at 4pm In John Mitchel’s pitch.

U12 and U14 Girls

Our U12’s and U14’s had a great training session last Sunday morning. They welcomed Denis Healy on board and he introduced all the girls to a fantastic training session. On Sunday they focused on running, hand passing and kicking skills. All the girls learnt some new skills and we were so happy to welcome a few new girls into St Pats Club. Looking forward to a bright future ahead.

Tralee/St Brendan’s League Round 2
St Pats 1-06 John Mitchels 1-09
Our match was played last Saturday night in windy and damp conditions in Ballyseedy at 7.30pm. John Mitchels were first to score with a point which sailed over the bar. They added another point two minutes after. Fergal O Brien brought us into the game with a point from a free. As minutes passed John Mitchels again scored a point. Brendan Poff received a yellow card in the tenth minute. Eoin Greaney scored a point while kicking into the wind. Not to be out done Breandan Savage scored a point from play. In the seventeenth minute Brendan Poff got sent to the side line with a yellow and red card. In a coming together Breandan Savage got a ten minute break from the game with a black card. Number six for John Mitchels received a yellow card at this stage of the match. Eoin Greaney got us another point from a free given. It was a tough game with each side playing well considering what they were playing in. Nearing the end of the first half Eoin Greaney and Brian Murphy both got yellow cards. John Mitchels scored two points before the final whistle to bring the game to a score line of St Pats 0-04 to John Mitchels 0-04.
As the second half began John Mitchels got another point but Liam Poff came up the field to score a goal to put us ahead for the first time. Fergal O Brien added to the tally with a point. Our lead was short lived when John Mitchels got a goal and point from play. The eleventh minute allowed Fergal O Brien to score another point from a free this time. Killian Lynch replaced Darragh Moriarty and Martin Savage replaced Cormac Lynch. In a mix of legs Niall McCarthy went down and ended up having to come off injured. He was replaced by Damien Cronin. As the match went on John Mitchels added three more points to the scoreboard in the eighteenth minute. Number eleven for John Mitchels got a black card for ten minutes of the game. As we moved towards the nineteenth minute Brian Murphy received a second yellow and red card to see himself getting a break early from the match. Both teams were strong and each wanted to come out on top, both marked each other well despite the rainy conditions. With the clock running down Breandan Savage received a red card from the referee also number fourteen got a yellow card. St Pats were down to thirteen men but continued to push through unfortunately it was not meant to be and the final whistle blew with a score line of St Pats 1-06 to John Mitchels 1-09.

St Pats will play Austin Stacks in the Round 3 of Tralee/St Brendan’s League Date, Time and Venue TBC.
