Mary Gardiner’s Walk
There was a great turnout out last Sunday despite weather conditions for Mary Gardiner’s last walk to complete her 100k in 30 Days. It was great to see so many families, friends, Academy members, Parents and wider community take part. Best of Luck Mary we are all behind you.
Todd’s Walk Turns Pink!
This year Todd’s walk will turn pink for Mary Gardiner on the 2nd of July. The annual walk is a bit early this year to support our very own Mary G. Hopefully, we can raise a few euro for this wonderful cause and also why not join us in Skelper Quanes after for a burger and a bop. If you would like to donate you can use either link below to do so.
What a successful weekend for Blennerville/ Ballyard in the community games county athletics event in An Riocht, Castleisland. Today we had 26 athletes competing in the Under 8, Under 10 and Under 12 categories. The weather started off kinder than expected and through great organisation by the officials all the heats ran off in the morning in fair conditions. In the under 10 200m and under 12 200m we had already had 6 qualified for semifinals (Dylan Murphy, Hannah Enright, Hugh Costello, Jace Flynn, Sophie Mulgrew and Niamh Murphy. It was great experience for Cillian Enright, Mary-Kate O’Shea who were unlucky not to progress.
Next up were the under 8s, all with a new experience on the track. Ben Smith ran a great sprint; Emma Higgins and Esme Nolan ran fantastically earning spots in the semifinals. Aaron Costello and Olivia Lynch ran excellent 80m sprints both progressing comfortably to the semifinals also. At under 10 100m Thomas Higgins comfortably won his heat and both Siún Foley and Harriet O’Loughlen placed well to also progress to the semifinals. The under 12 standard was extremely competitive, all 3 of our runners Tommy Costello, Eddie Hayes and Kayla Reidy were just outside the top 3 needed to progress to the semifinals.
Aaron Costello just missed out on placing in his semifinal, Emma Higgins, Esme Nolan, and Olivia Lynch all ran superbly to progress to their under 8 sprint finals. Up next there was great excitement for the relays the mixed team of U10, Thomas, Dylan, Grace and Siún ran a great race but placed 5th. The U12 boys of Hugh, Tommy, Eddie, and Stephen finished 5th also. The U12 girls Sophie, Niamh, Amy, and Kayla ran a great team race to qualify for the relay finals. Rylan Flynn showed his impressive throwing skills with 5th in the ball throw. After a short break, the rain began and the Under 10 hurdles were up next. Luke Galvin, Noah Fealy, Tiffany Nyere, and Grace Costello ran over 60m with 4 hurdles. None of our athletes had competed over hurdles before and ran very well enjoying the experience but didn’t progress.
In the middle distance U12 600m Stephen Enright ran a very strong race to qualify for the final and Amy Noonan finished well in the lead to easily progress to the girl’s final. With the rain now lashing the athletes braved it in the semifinals. Thomas won his deservedly taking his place in the final, both Siún and Harriet were just outside qualifying. Kayla and Jace just missed out on top 3 in the 200m, Hugh ran a faster race than his heat to make it to the final 6. Niamh Murphy impressed us all with her strong athletic stride to win her semifinal easily.
The conditions were now very wet for both athletes and spectators, we are very grateful for all of you who stayed on to cheer on our finalists. it worked! Emma, Esme, Hugh, Stephen, and our girls relay team were unlucky not to medal today but should be very proud to get to that level in county competition. We saw our first medal with Olivia Lynch taking Silver in the girls U8 80m. Thomas Higgins also running a great race to take Silver in the boys U10 100m, Niamh Murphy ran a great 200m to take bronze and Amy Noonan blitzed the U12 girls 600m to finish very strongly and won gold. All these athletes who won medals today will now progress to the regional community games to represent County Kerry. We are thrilled for them and wish them the best of luck.
Congratulations to our six athletes participating on day 2 of a wet county final. Emily Corridon ran her very first county community games 800m against an experienced squad. Well done in taking part. Jack Noonan ran extremely well today in his heats and made the 100m finals. Great running Jack. Our medal winners today were Aoibheann McCarthy pewter medal 800m, Dan O Connor silver 100m well done to you all and now go on to the regional finals in Ennis in July. Our u 15 mixed relay team of Aiden Hayes, Lucy Mulgrew, Aoibheann McCarthy and Dan O Connor who got gold and will represent Kerry in the national finals in Carlow in August. Thank you all for participating and best of luck with the next stage. Thanks to all our parents for your help and support… we hope you might help us on the committee to keep the area running for the future!
The usual Sunday Morning Academy was called off last week because of heavy rain over the weekend. Alot of the Juvenile’s joined the walk for Mary Gardiner instead. See you all next Sunday.
We had a great turnout for training Wednesday night so well done to all who attended. We played Beale last Thursday in Blennerville. Well done to the lads who togged out and represented St Pats very well. We will have training again Tuesday night next. Our final game in the U11 County Go Games program is Thursday at home again to Finuge.
Our u12 girls have had a great run in the county league coming 3rd on the table. We were beaten by a much more physical and stronger Ballyduff team on Tuesday night in the last round, but our girls fought hard. We have now qualified for a b final against Austin stacks b’s which will be played on Wednesday night in Ballyrickard at 8.15pm. Come and support these young girls who have worked so hard all year and truly deserve to be in another final. Well done to Chloe for winning our player of the week trophy this week. Chloe was the well-deserved winner this week as she played outstanding in full back against a very strong team. She was catching the ball out of the sky and bursting through which is exactly what we have been working on in training. She also continued to do this at training on Thursday night so well-done Chloe.

In horrible conditions we travelled to Glenflesk, the opposition were first to score with three points in a row. Kieran Hurley had his chance and put a point on the board, unfortunately this was the only score as conditions made it very difficult to hold onto the ball. Glenflesk continued to put scores up on the board with four more points added. Half time score read St Pats 0-01 to Glenflesk 0-07.
As the rain leveled off St Pats took the field a different team, within a few minutes of this half beginning the opposition scored two goals quickly and also added another point. Fergal O Brien scored two of his own points in quick succession, Adrian Greaney saw his chance and scored his own point. Glenflesk replied with a goal, our own Adrian Greaney wanted a piece of the action and scored a goal of his own. Cillian O Riordan had the ball and put it over the bar to add another a point to the scoreboard. With the ball becoming slippery at times, it was Eoin Greaney who was there for the ball to fall into his hands and give him the chance to score a point to add to our score. Glenflesk saw this and went ahead and scored two goals in quick succession. Fergal O Brien got a point in the dying minutes of this half unfortunately this wasn’t enough and Glenflesk added another point to finish this half on a score line of St Pats 1-07 to Glenflesk 5-09.
