St Pats Notes 31/08/2020

Lotto
There was no winner of our Club Lotto Jackpot on Sunday night last. The numbers drawn were 09, 17, 22 and 28. The five €30 consolation prizes went to Pat McMahon c/o O’Shea’s, Garrett Savage Curraheen, Anne Knowles St. John’s Park, Bernie Murphy Curragraigue and Eamon O’Mahony Abbeydorney.
Next week’s Lotto will have a Jackpot of €2100 and the draw will take place on Sunday night September 6th in The Clubhouse. Lotto tickets can be purchased online, from any club officer or at the following outlets: Seamus O’Sullivan Master Butchers, O’Shea’s Shop and Service Station, Poff Motors, Noyeks, Byrnesworth.
Many thanks to all who contributed to our weekly Club Lotto that resumed last Sunday night. The Club cannot emphasise enough the importance of our members promoting the Club Lotto among family, friend and work colleagues. The Covid-19 restrictions have seriously hampered our fundraising income and the Lotto is now the critical source of funds for the Club. While tickets are on sale in some retail outlets – O’Sheas GALA shop, Poff Motors; Seamus Sullivan Butchers, Byrnesworth and Noyeks – other outlets still remain closed and so the on-line Lotto has assumed an important source of lotto ticket purchases. If you are interested in selling Lotto tickets please get in touch with any coach or Club Officer.

Juveniles
U6: We had a lovely session in the sun for 13 under 6s. Great to have returning faces since the spring / summer break. As always we practice our movement skills, ball handling & kicking skills in as fun a way as possible. It’s great to see boys & girls really coming on through practice & time spent with parents & siblings at home. We did a fun obstacle course with importance of jumping & crawling, throwing & catching. Match play was entertaining as always with lovely friendships & teamwork this morning. Very well done to Oisin Burke for being so enthusiastic & smiling all session long. He showed his kicking practice had paid off & earned himself the player of the week trophy. See you all next week, reminders sent by WhatsApp so anyone interested can contact Fiona on 0860588392. We welcome all boys & girls 4-6 years old. All GAA COVID19 guidelines in place. U8: We welcomed our neighbours from over the water in Churchill today for some fun games.
We played for over an hour in beautiful sunshine and lots of fun was had. A special mention for our girls who played a ‘Girls only Game’ and showed off some sparking skills. For the boys Oscar Curran definitely had his Weetabix, scoring some spectacular goals. Rilan Flynn and Bruce were really solid around the middle and Cillian Enright was ‘Tackler of the Day’. Aaron Costello stepped up from the u6s and scored a sideline point that David Clifford would have been proud of. Many thanks to Churchill for making the journey and also to the St Pats coaches who helped with pitch set up and refereeing duty.
U10: There is nothing like the prospect of a match against another Club to invigorate a training session and so it was for our under 10’s at training on Friday last. With a game against the Churchill under 10’s scheduled for last Sunday our players put in that extra bit of effort in preparation for the game. For our first competitive game of 2020 we had ideal weather conditions to face the visiting team. What a good match it proved to be with each team gaining the upper hand at various stages of the game with some lovely point scoring executed by both sides and some excellent defending. Well done to all our players – Tommy Costello, Hugh Costello, Thomas Colivet, James Daly, Stephen Enright, Rían Flynn, Gearóid Hingston, Seamus Hingston Eddie Hayes and Isaac Price – with everyone contributing to the team effort. We extend our thanks to the Churchill Club for travelling to St Pats and for a very enjoyable and competitive game.
U12: Our U 12s treated us to yet another fabulous game of football against Gneevguilla last Sunday afternoon in Blennerville. It was a very close encounter with both teams scoring 5 goals but unfortunately we came out on the wrong side by a couple of points. Our next game is a round 4 fixture when we play away to Duagh this Sunday, the 4th September at 6pm.
U14: Hard luck to our U14 panel who travelled to Waterville last Wednesday evening to take on Dromid/Waterville in round 2 phase 2 of the U14 league. Missing a good few players, we were 6 points up at half time but ended up losing by 4 points. Thanks to the parents who made the long trip. Our third round game is at home to Renard this Wednesday, the 2nd September at the earlier time of 6.30pm.
U16: Our U16’s resume phase 2 of the U16 county league this Monday, 31st August when they welcome Tarbert to Blennerville. Throw-in for this fixture is at 6.30pm

County Junior Football League
Best wishes to our Senior B team playing their round 2 fixture this Friday against Churchill in Churchill at 6.30pm.

Senior Football Championship
Congratulations to the St. Brendans Board senior team who for the second year in a row overcame Killarney Legion last Saturday in the quarter-finals of the County Senior Football Championship on a scoreline of 2-17 to 1-09.
The draw for the semi-finals will be made on Monday evening. We wish Seamus Murphy and the panel the best in the competition.

Minor Football Championship

Best of luck to the St Brendans minor panel as they face East Kerry in the finals of the Minor Football Championship this Wednesday, the 2nd of September at 7pm in Austin Stacks Park. There will be extra-time and winner on the day.

Best Wishes
Everybody at the Juvenile section of the club, especially teammates from U16 and Minors sends their best wishes to Colin Doody for a full and speedy recovery from surgery on a torn cruciate.
To all our juveniles starting secondary school this week.

Sympathy The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of Christina Cregan née Breen Shanakill.

Best Regards,
