Juvenile Academy
U6: We had a high energy under 6 training this morning with a great attendance from the girls. We’re working on tackling and evasion skills to improve our match play and by all accounts this morning it’s paying off & we all enjoyed the games. Credit to Noah Fealy for getting stuck in during the match! Player of the week went to Ciara Byrne for her kicking skills & enthusiasm! Next week we are hosting Listry at the later time of 12.30pm. Under 6’s will play little matches amongst ourselves in the AstroTurf while the under 8’s and 10’s play Listry on the main pitch. At 1.30pm we will have refreshments at the club house, we hope that parents could bring a contribution of either rolls/ sandwiches/ buns/ crisps as we will be feeding our academy and Listry as well. Wear your red & white (spare club jerseys will be available) & bring your best cheering voice to wish the senior team luck as they take to the pitch at 2pm. Looking forward to a fun afternoon full of memories!
U8: Our under 8’s participated in the St Brendan’s Board blitz last Tuesday night and put in some great performances. We had two teams playing and they played three games each against Churchill, Ballyheigue and Ardfert. Training continued last Sunday and there is great improvements being made by everyone; none more so than Thomas Colivet who picked up the player of the week award. Keep up the good work boys and girls and keep practicing at home. This Sunday May 26th, our juvenile academy will be at the slightly later time of 12:30pm as we will be hosting Listry Under 8’s and 10’s in advance of the Senior County League game between St Pats and Listry. Our Under 8’s and Under 10’s will play challenge games against Listry between 12:30pm and 1:30pm whilst our Under 6’s will have their own game on the astro at the same time. Refreshments will be served to all players after the game in time for everyone to cheer on their respective senior teams. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!
U10: On Sunday next the 26th May we will be hosting the Listry Club’s U10 and U8 teams at our pitch at 12:30p.m. Please note we will not have the normal Sunday academy session. The U10 and U8 games will provide a curtain raiser to the Senior game of St. Pats vs Listry at 2pm. Refreshments will be provided to the players and supporters at 1:30 pm and it would be great if everyone could stay to welcome our senior St Pats players when they take to the pitch for their game.
In advance of the games with Listry we will have an U10 session on Friday 24th May from 5:45 to 6:45pm to fine tune our tactics!! We continue to remind all our young players to wear a gumshield when practising and playing games.
We had a very good session on Sunday last and the contributions of Tommy, Hugh and Blake to our panel of players added well to the overall session. Rhíana and Eddie put in some great play during our game and both are showing great improvement. Some great point scoring by Ródhan Culloo had us searching for footballs in the adjacent field after the session!
At the time of going to print we are scheduled to take part in an U10 Blitz hosted by Churchill GAA in the pitch at the Spa so overall a busy week for the Under-10’s.
Finally we extend congratulations to all our under-10 players from Derryquay NS who made their First Communion last Saturday, we hope you all enjoyed the special occasion.
U14 Girls: After a week’s break due to the community games, training resumes this Wednesday at 6pm on the astro pitch. Please ensure the right footwear is worn.
U17: For the third year running, the U17 Club 9 a side Competition will begin on Wednesday 22nd May at 6.45pm. The Competition will take place over 3 Rounds: Wednesday May 23rd, Monday May 28th and Saturday June 2nd. On May 22nd the Competition will begin with 8 groups of 3 teams (we are in group 7 with Spa and Asdee/Ballylongford/Ballydonoghue with all games played in Blennerville). In each group, a round robin competition will take place with each team getting 2 games each, which are 12 minutes a half. At the end of Round 1 Games teams will be placed either 1, 2 or 3 in their respective groups based on the results of the Games. These finishing positions will determine where teams play in Round 2.
Round 2 will again see all 24 teams play but will be based on their positions after Round 1 with the top 2 in each group qualifying for Round 3. In this round, the 16 teams will play in the semi-finals where they will be grouped into 4 divisions again based on results from round 2. The 4 finals, which will be played on the same day, will be contested by the winning semi-finalists in each division. We wish Brendan Poff and the panel the best of luck in this competition.

Co. Junior Football League 2019
