St Pats Race Night
On Monday night members of St Pats GAA were joined by Tim Moynihan to launch their very first Race Night which will take place in Skelper Quanes Blennerville on Sunday 30th October at 8pm.
The Race Night committee have been very active in promoting the night and are delighted with the huge response from members of the club and surrounding community. On the night we will have a great night of racing finishing with an Auction Race along with lots of prizes for Best Dressed Lady & Gent, Spot Prizes for winning Owners, Jockeys & Trainers, a Bumper Raffle and much much more!
It has been another great year for St Pats GAA from our ever-growing numbers of kids playing in our Juvenile Academy to our Seniors who won two competitions this year and this is a fitting way for all our coaches, parents, and supporters to get together for a fun night out. We would invite all our members along with non-members to join us on the night and help raise vital funds which will support the daily running of our club from training equipment to catering and works to be carried out on our grounds.
We are hugely grateful to all our local sponsors who have come on board and supported us by either sponsoring a race or taking out a full-page advert in our Booklet.
This event will start @8pm sharp
We hope to see you all there…
U9’s and U11’s
Our Parish league concluded on Friday evening. We were blessed with good conditions for the final games of our Parish league and the Cup and Shield Finals. It was a huge event and well supported and our young stars served up the football to match. West took on Windmill for a place in the final in a good contest. The West got a number of very good scores to secure the result and their place in the Cup final. In the other game Dingle Way, who had already qualified for the final, took on Bridge. The Bridge team welcomed the return of Rian Flynn, but the Dingle Way team won out.
James O’Riordan and Cian O’Regan was superb in front of goal and in midfield Hugh and Tommy Costello gave Windmill the edge they needed to win out the game. In the Shield Final Bridge took on Windmill and put on a great display of football for the spectators. It was a very close contest and probably the best game of the day, with a narrow victory for the Bridge to clinch the shield trophy. Congratulations to Bridge, our Parish Shield winners for 2021. There were good displays all round for both teams with standout displays by Paddy Flynn, Tommy Flynn, Darragh Flahive, Oscar Curran, Darragh Murphy, Dylan Murphy, Paddy Costello, and our Man of the match Rian Flynn. A special mention to winning captain Fionn Sharp who capped off a great season with St Pats.
In the Cup final, West and Dingle Way, returned to battle and it was a fierce contest as expected. The West put up a great fight but found it difficult to get through a strong midfield and resolute defence commanded by Thomas Higgins. Dingle Way grew stronger as the game went on and were deserved winners. Tommy and Hugh Costello showed fantastic athleticism, determination, shooting and also linked well together and with Cian O’Regan and James O’Riordan to kick the key scores to lead Windmill to victory. Cillian Enright, Darragh Sheehan, Thomas Colivet and Jace Flynn stood out for the runners up while AJ Turner put in a standout performance and was our man of the match. Congratulations to Dingle Way, and joint captains Tommy and Cian, our Parish Cup winners for 2022. We had a presentation ceremony for all our awards after the games, conducted by Juvenile Chairman Michael Moriarty and John Colivet from the u11 coaching team. Our Player of the tournament award went to Jace Flynn who consistently showed great leadership and determination, a deserving winner. Our top Scorer of the tournament award went to Tommy Costello with scored a phenomenal 6-21 over the four games. Tommy also deserves special mention for a very impressive acceptance speech as joint captain of the winning cup team.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible, not least Michael Moriarty, Joe Costello, Fiona Costello, Seamus Murphy, and Marie Fitzgibbon for organising the Parish League and prizes. It was superbly organised and a great occasion that brought the best out of our players. Thanks also to all our u9 and u11 coaches who have given their time over the year to help develop our young St Pats stars. We are taking a well-earned break now and will return early in 2023. We are looking forward to next season already.
U12 Girls
Well done to everyone on a great training session on Wednesday evening last. The girls had a lot of fun and there was a great turn out. They started off with circuits, something they had never done before, moved onto fun ball skills games, and finished off with a possession game. Week six of the couch to 5k continued Thursday evening last for the girls, who are doing brilliantly each week.
