Juveniles
U6: We’ve had a great run of weather on Sunday mornings, perfect conditions for football & fun. With 17 boys & girls we split to 2 training groups. This allowed for more focus on tackling & evasion drills & usual practice of hand passing & kicking skills.
The girls are really enjoying getting competitive with each other in match play, special mention to Anna Poff & Emma Higgins for showing their practice is really paying off at home.
4 vs 4 boys allowed for plenty of ball touches for all. As usual Darragh O’Regan gave training his all. Great listening, great focus & drive to improve. Today he won the player of the week trophy on his consistent performance each week. Keep it up!
As Liam said try each week to practice kicking, solos, hand passing, this will all help you progress & enjoy your football sessions.
We’ll keep going towards Halloween as long as the weather permits.
U8: Our U8’s welcomed visiting locals, Na Gaeil for some fun games last Sunday morning under perfect conditions and the pitch was in fantastic order for this match up. All the kid played excellently and had great fun representing their club very well. Many thanks to Na Gaeil players and mentors for visiting.
U10: Our under 10 panel were back on the training pitch last Friday evening, a session from which Johnny, the team coach, was unavoidably absent. Rumour has it that his absence coincided with the Listowel races however we are assured that any sightings of him in the vicinity of Listowel were as a result of duties of an official nature. Meanwhile in his absence it took 3 coaches to control…oops!…to coach the under 10 squad and Johnny can rest easy that his position is not in danger of being usurped! Following a good warm up we put in some good practice of hand passing on the move and kick passing. The latter part of the session was a good game where Jace, Rylan, Lainey and Tommy showed their abilities as defenders, while Rian and James battled with Hugh and Stephen to dominate the midfield exchanges and keep their respective forwards supplied with good passes. James O’, Bruce, Dee and Ashling were to the fore in keeping the scores totting up. This correspondent also covers the recent games at under 11’s although the rates for this additional coverage have yet to be agreed. We understand intense negotiations are taking place with the Club Treasurer to resolve the issue! So if there are any aspiring scribes reading these notes now is your chance to grab a role as a games correspondent with St Pats…tell the treasurer you’ll do it for free and the job will be yours!
U11: Our U11 had an away game against Na Gaeil on Sunday morning. This was a tough game against a good Na Gaeil team who showed a great work ethic in defending ensuring that scores were hard earned. Our own defense was pretty tight as well with some great work from the Jones brothers – Ben and Sam, James and Rory Daly and the goal keeping of Gearóid Hingston; in midfield Ródan Culloo and Rían Flynn put in a great shift. Our forward lines of Ben O’Leary, Dee Hanly, Seamus Hingston, Tommy and Hugh Costello, Stephen Enright and Luke Passway kept up the pressure all the way through resulting in some great scores. Well done to Luke who is getting accustomed to his new position on the edge of the square and finished the game having scored 1 – 1. Thanks to Na Gaeil for hosting the Go-game and it was great to see the overall level of activity on their club grounds as they also had visiting teams from a Kerins O’Rahillys girls team and a young Austin Stacks team. Well done also to our players, Ródhan Culloo, James Daly, Stephen Enright, Ben O’Leary and Luke Passway who having played in the morning game also travelled to Annascaul later on Sunday evening to play with the Under 12’s against an Annascaul/Lispole team.
U12: Our U 12s continue to play weekly matches and have 2 more lined up before the planned end of the season on October 11th. This is an excellent squad and we forward to further development games. Next game on Friday in Blennerville at 6pm.
U14: Our U14s played a challenge match against Austin Stacks B last Wednesday evening in Blennerville. We started very badly in the first half and conceded 3 goals, 2 within a minute of each other as our neighbours took a commanding lead to the short break. The second half was much different as our boys used the ball better, increased their work rate and we outscored our opponents but time was against us to at least draw the match. Full-time scores St Pats 5-06 Stacks 5-09. Thanks to the Austin Stacks B players and management team and to the referee. U13/15 competition: We will enter 2 teams each in this 7 a-side competition. Both age groups will be competing in group 2 which features Stacks 1 & 2, Ballymac 1 & 2 and Churchill 1 & 2. Fixtures are as follows: U13 Rd 1 30/09/20 at 6pm St Pats V Churchill Rd 2 07/10/20 at 6pm Ballymac V St Pats Rd 3 14/10/20 at 6pm St Pats V Stacks U15 Rd 1 28/09/20 at 6pm Churchill V St Pats Rd 2 05/10/20 at 6pm St Pats V Ballymac Rd 3 12/10/20 at 6pm Stacks V St Pats
