Family Fun Day
St Pats are pleased to announce that the club will be having its annual Family Fun Day this Sunday, the 10th of September. The day will commence with a 5K walk in memory of club stalwart, Tony O’Donoghue. The walk which starts from the clubhouse at 12 noon is via Curragraigue, Ballydunlea, Ballyard, Kearneys Road, through the village and back to the pitch where refreshments will be served on return and we will also have a donation box for the Palliative Care and our Juvenile Academy. It will then be followed by a number of games for the children such as Egg and Spoon Race, Basketball, Tug-o-War, Shooting Target with a hurley, Target Practice, Hanging Tough, Face-Painting, Obstacle Course and lots more. We need helpers to organise events and stewarding for the day. Anyone available should please contact Brenda Doody or Marie Fitzgibbon. We would also ask that parents bring some home-made cakes and buns etc. Hope to seeing you all there.
Juvenile Academy
There will be no Juvenile Academy this Sunday due to the Family Fun Day, instead we will have it this Thursday, the 7th for the U6/8 and 10’s at 6pm. We hope to see you all there.
U6: Well done to Layla Curran, Dylan Passway and Isaac Price who put in a great training session last Sunday morning but a huge well done to new-comer, AJ Turner who received our player of the week trophy by showing great skill and determination throughout the session. Keep up the good work.
U8: We had a great turnout for the under-8 session last Sunday morning and the sunny weather helped to give the enthusiasm a further boost. It’s great to see the participation returning to the normal levels after the summer holidays. A very warm welcome is extended to Amy Turner who joined us for the first time and participated wholeheartedly in all of the activity showing some good skills. The session finished with a keenly contested game between the red team and the green team. With less than a minute to go the green team went a point up through some good combination play between Eddie, Sharon, Keelin and Steven resulted in a fine point being scored by Ryan. With the seconds counting down the reds went in search of an equaliser and executed a great passing movement from Cian to Ródhan onto Ben who slipped it to James who gave a lovely hand pass to the incoming Sam who slotted it calmly over the bar for the equaliser.
Very well done to the player of the week Cian O’Halloran who put in a great session, so keep up the commitment Cian. The Academy won’t be on next Sunday as St Pat’s will be holding the annual Family Fun day and we hope all of you will be able to join us for some good fun and enjoyment. To keep improving your skills don’t forget to do a least 10 minutes practice with a ball at home each day.
U10: St Pats U-10’s were back with our academy action last Sunday morning. All our players put in a great effort over the hour especially Darragh Murphy, Gary Scollard, Aiden Hayes and Ben Jones. Please note that we will be taking part in the Annual John Mitchels U10 Blitz on Saturday, 23rd of September. It’s important all our players keep practising their skills at home during the week. There is a change to our Academy action for this week; it will now be on this Thursday evening, the 7th at 6pm due to the Family Fun Day which is on next Sunday 10th. All are welcome. Naomh Padraig Abú…
U12 Girls: Last Thursday evening, we played Curchill in the Town League in what could best be described as a game of two halves. Churchill stormed out of the blocks in blistering form, scoring 6-01 to our 2 points by the end of the first half but the unbelievable resilience showed by our gitrls in the second half saw them scoring 2-08 to Churchill’s 1-01 but unfortunately couldn’t further close the gap as the game ended on a score line of Churchill 7-02 St Pats 2-10.
Team and scorers: Sinead Murphy, Ailbhe Daly, Keelin Enright, Sarah Brett, Caoimhe O’Sullivan, Rachel Mulgrew, Emily Roche, Kayla O’Connor, Lisa Rowan (2-00), Caoimhe Dairo (0-03), Emma Healy, Siobhan O’Sullivan, Grainne Breen (0-07).
We entertain Ballymac B this Tuesday, 5th at 7pm and would be grateful for your support.
U12 Mixed: We play Laune Rangers C away this evening, Monday the 4th in the Central Region Competition. Venue is Killorglin at 7pm
U13: Our U13’s played 2 games last week. On Tuesday, they played a much stronger Churchill side and were defeated on the night. On Saturday, under very wet conditions, we only had 9 players against John Mitchels and it proved to be another difficult game for us to overcome. This brings to a conclusion our participation in the Town League. Thanks to all the players that represented us and also the mentors.
U16: We are away to Austin Stacks this Wednesday, 6th in Div. 1 of the Tralee Town Board League at 6.30pm. We wish Luke, James, Eoin and the panel the best of luck in this competition.
Seniors
A very under strength St Pats team short a number of regulars travelled to Kenmare last Sunday in the final game of Division 2 County League and were defeated by a much stronger Kenmare Shamrocks team. Needing to win and hope that other results goes our way, it was going to require a miracle and super-human effort on our side to pull it off but unfortunately it didn’t come to pass. This loss guaranteed that we are now relegated to Division 3.
Senior B
We have home advantage in the quarter-finals of the Barrett Cup which will be played in Blennerville this Saturday, 9th at 4.30pm. All support welcome.
Astro Pitch
Our all-weather astro pitch is available for hire at very competitive rates. It is flood-lit, so training or whatever use you may have for it can also be accomplished in the evenings now that the days are getting shorter. Contact James Costello on 0862908735 for booking and more information.
