Parish League
The 2022 Parish League commenced last Sunday with 34 players participating between our U9 and U11 boys. The weather was great, and the football was even better with plenty scores across the four games. The Dingle Way team top the table after 2 rounds with two wins. The Windmill team and West Team share second spot with a win and a draw each. The Bridge suffered a huge blow before their games with the loss of Rian Flynn. Jace Flynn picked up a knee injury towards the end of their second game, so we wish Jace and Rian a speedy recovery and we hope to see both lads next Sunday. Tommy Costello is currently the top scorer, but he has Cillian Enright breathing down his neck! Thanks to all the coaches and the committee for helping organise it and also to both refs Mikey Moriarty and Mike Walsh for officiating. See you all next Sunday for the last round games and the cup and shield finals.
Cumann na mBunscoil

U11
It was a busy week for the u11’s with the Bridge team hosting Dingle in the last of their West Kerry Go Games program. Our boys got off to a sluggish start with the visitors dominating the opening exchanges. However, our boys got to grips with the game in the second half and made a great comeback. All the boys did themselves and the coaches proud but special mention goes to Daragh Murphy, Thomas Colivet, Cillian Enright and Darragh Sheehan who played out of their skins. Our windmill team trained at the same time with coaches Brian and Joe. After a good kicking drill, we went into small, sided games where the boys worked on their kick and hand passing, catching and movement. It was great to have yet another good turnout. This was the last Thursday night session of the year as the parish league takes centre stage. The next get together is for the Parish League last round games and finals next Sunday. We may have one final back game in the Central Region Go Games program at home to Templenoe on Sunday Oct 16th. This will be confirmed later this week.
U12 Girls
The U12 girls played away last Tuesday evening against Na Gaeil, in miserable conditions in the semifinal of the town league. Well done once again to the girls on an absolutely amazing performance. It was a very tight game from start to finish and we were very unlucky not to come away with a win. Any team could have won and that was evident throughout the game. It was nip and tuck right to the final whistle and the girls should all be so proud of themselves to leave the field with a one-point loss. Eve in goals played outstanding saving numerous shots on target and certainly kept us in the game. Our backs Lucy, Grace, Meaghan, and Alannah defended fantastically blocking numerous balls and clearing the ball on so many occasions. Sarah and Aisling in midfield played out of their skin covering every blade of grass on the field.
Our forwards Niamh, Saorlaith, Kaela, Ava and Lisa got on a load of ball while giving off some great passes and setting Kaela up to score a massive score line of 3-02. We really missed Ailbhe, Safira and Chloe, who are out injured but are looking forward to having them back training with us very soon. This was a great game to finish off our season and we will continue to train right through the winter to maintain our skills and to further improve on our skills for next year. For now, we will continue with our couch to 5K on Thursday evenings and will train on Sunday as usual before we decide on an evening for indoor training for the rest of the year. Well done to Sarah Greaney who won the player of the week trophy this week. Sarah played an outstanding game last Tuesday against na Gaeil fighting for every ball and never gave up throughout the game.
Seniors
Our Seniors are scheduled to play away on this weekend the 8th of October in the Tralee/St Brendan’s Senior Football Championship against Na Gaeil at 3pm.
St Pats B
Our seniors travelled to Castleisland on Saturday night; this was a final in the Developmental League. This match was physical from the very beginning, Fergal O Brien started with a superb goal. Scartaglin gained the ball and ended up converting it into a point, Eoin Greaney was quick with the ball and got his own point. It was us who scored the next two scores with a goal from James Friel and a point from Fergal O Brien. Scartaglin wanting to close the scoring added two points. A point each came from Eoin Greaney and Cillian Lynch, Scartaglin put another point on the board. With a point each from Eoin Greaney and Fergal O Brien, the first half ended St Pats 2-06 Scartaglin 0-04.
The second half began with points from Shane Jordan, Cormac Lynch and Fergal O Brien, James Friel was awarded a free which with the kick landed in the top left corner. With scores adding up Scartaglin gained a point. As time ticked down Fergal O Brien added another two points to the scoreboard. Scartaglin put another point on the scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough, and we came out victorious.
