Juvenile Academy
U5
Under 5s enjoyed a lovely morning of football training. We practiced our ball handling skills, kicking, passing and high catch. We finished the session with a game of sharks and fishes. Well done to our players of the week, Kelly, and Finn.
U7 Boys
We had a great session this morning, we started with a warmup followed by some fun games and drills and finished up with a very competitive match at the end. Very well done to Oisin our Player of the week. Thanks to coaches James, Dave, and Mike.
U8 Girls
St Pats U8 girls traveled to john Mitchells for our 3rd match with them this year. We were delighted to have 13 girls available for St Pats versus initially smaller numbers for John Mitchells. We started with one large match but quickly balanced the numbers and split to 2 matches for more ball touches for each girl. We showed great skills in attack and mid field and some great link up play between the girls. We have some very strong girls going up to under 10s next year & are delighted to have a strong girl’s side to our club to build on for the future. Looking forward to a fun training session next Sunday and an action-packed fun end of season day on Sunday 9th October at St Pats.
U9
We had 15 players training this morning. We started with an exciting penalty shootout with senior goalkeeper Paudie Bailey in goal. Fionn Sharp showed great composure to win the shoot out! We followed with a warmup, stretching, a handpassing and movement drill and a scoring drill incorporating movement into space and passing. We finished the session with a good competitive game.
U10 Girls
Well done to all 15 girls who turned out for St. pats this morning for their final game of the season against John Mitchels. It is great to see such a big number of girls still playing football towards the end of the season. 15 was our biggest number for any match or training session this year. They all played really well in every position and have improved so much since we started 7 months ago in February. Last week’s player of the week finally got her hands on the trophy to bring home for the week. Well done to Jessica Lacey our final and well deserving player of the week for 2022.
Next week Sunday 2nd will be our final training session of the season and the following Sunday 9th will be a family fun day to mark the end of our Junior Academy for the season 2022.
U11
The u11’s have been very active over the last two weeks. On Thursday Sept 15th, we hosted Ballyduff in a series of challenge games in Blennerville. Ballyduff were the slightly better team in both games, but it was great to have our biggest turnout of the year with 25 boys togging out. On Sunday 18th, we had another great turnout of over 20 players where we had an in-house game amongst ourselves. Last Thursday, our windmill team travelled to An Ghaeltacht to take on the locals in the West Kerry Go Games program. Thanks to John and Fiacc for bringing the lads back and they all performed well. We trained again last Sunday with a few regulars missing due to the County Cross Country Championships, but it was still a great session coordinated by John, Fiacc, Brian and Michael. This coming Thursday, our windmill team are due to host a Dingle team in the last game of the West Kerry Go Games in Blennerville at 6:30pm. We are trying to also arrange a game for the Bridge team for the same evening which we will update parents through the WhatsApp group. Also, two huge dates to note for the diary are the end of Season Parish League with the u9 boys. This will take place next Sunday October 2nd with the finals on Sunday October 9th. If last year’s league was anything to go by, these games should be epic, so we look forward to seeing as many club members as possible down there to support the lads!
U12 Girls
The U12 girls played their 2nd match in the town league last Tuesday evening where they played absolutely amazing away to Na Gaeil and were very unlucky to finish the game with only a 2-point loss. We are very proud of the girls and this performance shows how far they all have progressed. Every player played outstanding, but we have to compliment Kaela Reidy and Alannah O Mahoney on their performance. Kaela scoring 1-5 and getting into great positions while Alannah was catching so many balls out of the sky and clearing the ball on numerous occasions. Well done everyone, you did us all proud once again. On Thursday last the girls continued their couch to 5K and also trained on Sunday morning with another great training session. Kaela Reidy was the well-deserved winner of the trophy this week as She played an outstanding game on Tuesday evening and definitely had her scoring boots on. She also put in a great effort at training on Sunday. Well done, Kaela. We are playing away to Na Gaeil in a semifinal of the town league this Tuesday evening at 6.30. Hopefully, the St pats girls will come out on top this time!
St Brendan’s
Round 3 of Garvey’s Supervalu Senior Football Championship against South Kerry took place last Sunday in Caherciveen, two of St Pats contingent played in this match Fergal O Brien was on the starting panel with Adrian Greaney come on to replace Alan O Donoghue. This match ended on a draw 0-16 points each.
Seniors
Our Seniors are scheduled to play away on the weekend of the 1st/2nd of October in the Tralee/St Brendan’s Senior Football Championship against Na Gaeil. Date and Time to be confirmed, Keep an eye on O Sheas Gala, Our Clubhouse and Byrnesworth for any updates on this fixture.
St Pats B
On Friday night last our seniors played against Ardfert B, this was a quick game from start to finish. We scored seven points in the first half of this game with them coming from three from Liam O Sullivan, point from Gary Savage, Two points from Brian Murphy and one point from Eoin Greaney. Ardfert got five points from this half, there was great effort to keep possession of the ball throughout. The first half ended St Pats 0-07 Ardfert 0-05.
Ardfert opening the second half with two points, as Eoin Greaney went up the field he was pulled and given a free. With this free, Eoin stepped up and landed in the top left-hand corner of the goals with a massive roar from the crowd at the sidelines. Eoin Greaney added two more points to his tally. Ardfert replied with three points of their own, with experienced legs in the form of Sean Hayes who got a point of his own. Ardfert got a chance at goals and took it, which brought the score line to St Pats 1-10 to Ardfert 1-10. With a draw we needed to keep pace and get ahead this came in the form of two points from Eoin Greaney and point from Sean Hayes. Ardfert scored another point, as the clock ticked on, we held onto the lead, and it ended St Pats 1-13 Ardfert 1-11. Brian Murphy winning captain received the trophy presented by John Slattery Secretary of Tralee Board. Congratulations to the team, substitutes and management for this great achievement.
Congratulations
Congratulations to our U11 double duos Hugh and Tommy Costello and Rylan and Jace Flynn who represented Tralee Harriers last Sunday in County Cross Country Championships at u12 level. The championships took place in the Killarney Demesne. All four ran a great race with the Costello boys finishing 2nd and 3rd and the Flynn twins running great but just finishing outside the medals. However, their solid performances were rewarded as a collective with Tralee Harriers winning a bronze medal in the team event. Well done lads!
Congratulations to our Senior B’s who were outright winners in the Tralee/St Brendan’s Junior League Group B Final against Ardfert B.
Speedy Recovery
To Cillian O Riordan who came off injured during the seniors B game against Ardfert last Friday night.
Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of Brendan Dowling Upper Rock Street, John O Hanlon Tonevane and John Horgan Killorglin.
