Many thanks to all who contribute to our weekly Club Lotto. The Club cannot emphasise enough the importance of our members promoting the Club Lotto among family, friends and work colleagues. The Covid-19 restrictions have seriously hampered our fundraising and income over the last 18 months. The Lotto is now a critical source of funds for the Club. We are appealing to all club members to promote our lotto at this time to ensure our clubs future viability.

Juvenile Academy
U5’s: Great fun this morning in U5’s. All kids were very enthusiastic throughout. Following a fun warm up, all worked on their kicking and catching skills followed by an obstacle course. Great shots were taken on goal at the end and plenty of goals and points were scored. Our star player of the week was Tom Moriarty who had a great session. Thanks to all who helped out.
U7’s: A great day was had today as we played Austin stacks away in Caherslee. Great numbers turned up to play and we hope all the kids enjoyed themselves We divided up into 3 teams and I think a lot of the results went our way We travel to Mitchels next Sunday U9’s: A great session today with lots of great skills on show. Well done to Bruce who took home the player of the week trophy after a few fantastic performances in recent weeks. We will play our last away game of the season this Friday when we travel to Duagh for a 6:30 throw in. U10 Girls: Thanks to Kerins O’Rahillys for hosting us in a go game in Ballyrickard this morning. Our typical under 10 team were missing 4 senior players so we were delighted to have Mary-Kate, Emma & Rosie boost our numbers to play 11 aside. Well done to Sophia who was brave to play her first ever match & join in. We were well beaten by a physical well schooled Kerins O’Rahillys side however we were very proud of how the girls improved in each quarter and really improved in their defensive play and passing as a team. Special mention to Grace Roche for great work ethic in defence and Jessica & Emma Lacey for their team effort. Saorlaith Costello impressed in mid field & Kaela Reidy grew in confidence as the match went on to kick some great points. If the girls can keep putting in the practice at home they will reap the rewards! Thanks for the support Norma & Kieran & for the photos Kieran. My coaching skills are limited as we progress up the ages so if anyone would like to get more involved in a coaching role at this age group Nigel & I would be delighted to have the help too.
U11’s: Ardfert is renowned for the village’s surviving structure of the 12th Century Cathedral which is greatly admired by those passionate about architecture. The local GAA club pitch is adjacent to this great heritage site and is also a location that tends to witness a lot of passion for those who enjoy gaelic football. And so it was last Thursday evening we witnessed some great football played with passion, honest endeavour and plenty of skill by our young St Pats footballers versus the local Club. The games were part of the Kellihers Mills Town League series of Go games. The team comprising mainly our older players in this age range got nothing easy against a very good Ardfert side. It took a while for our players to adjust to the tempo of the game but we got back into the game through some sterling defensive work by Eddie, Paddy, Jake and Charlie. Gearóid, as ever, was assured in goals and made some fine saves. Sarah was a vital link player between the half back line and the forwards and along with our midfield pairing of Rian and James ensured that the Ardfert backs were put under pressure. The dynamic forward play of Tommy, Hugh and Stephen resulted in some fine scores. They were ably supported by Sam, Seamus, Isaac, Thomas, Ethan and Alannah. The standout performer was Lainey, apart from her footballing skills she has a great attitude, never stops running and always puts the team first. A special mention also must go to Dee who returned to the team this week and marked the occasion with a great point from play. Thanks to the Ardfert Club for the warm welcome, and providing us with a great competitive games on a pitch in excellent condition. Our u11’s returned to St Pats ground on Sunday morning for training. The coaches were glad to see a huge turnout again this week. This week we worked on hand passing and played two mini 5-a-side games and all the players put in a great effort in a lively training session. There were excellent displays from Noah, Ethan, Paddy and Isaac. The Kellihers Mills Town League series continues this Thursday with a game at home to Kerins O’Rahillys B at 6.30pm. Training resumes on Sunday at the usual time of 12 noon at St Pat’s club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98. A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at training and to register on www.foireann.ie U12 Girls: A big thanks to Asdee/Ballylongford for travelling a long distance this morning for a friendly challenge match against our under 12 girls.
We played a 11-aside match. We were delighted to have Jessica, Emma and Ailbhe from Fiona’s under 10’s group joining us!
We had the stronger team on the day. Lainey Costello and Lily Breen impressed us in midfield getting the ball down towards Sarah, Chloe, Tara and Jessica, who played forwards with the help of Amy and Eve who played left and right wings.
The opposing team played very well but our defence line was stronger with Alannah, Ailbhe, Aoife and Katelyn who kept the ball in play towards their teammates. There was mighty scoring from our girls from mids to forwards. However, we had to change the team around for the second half to make the match more fair.
Special mention to Emma and Eve for great goalkeeping, Ailbhe in forwards scoring plenty of goals towards the end and to Sarah for her skills in possession of the ball throughout the match.
This whole team is growing stronger each week and I’m very proud of them all!

U13’s: U13 Timberland KItchens & Flooring St Brendans & Tralee League We had a close encounter with Austin Stacks B on Wed last in round 2 of this competition. Both teams played free flowing and excellent football. We started well and at half time enjoyed a lead on 2-09 v 1-06. Austin Stacks had the better of the 2nd half exchanges and we relied on excellent defensive play and teamwork to lead at the final whistle on a scoreline of 2-15 v 2-11. It was great to have Jack Cashman back in the lineup after sustaining an injury some weeks ago. Well done to everyone who contributed so well and played their hearts out. U15’s: We were unfortunate to lose our last round match in the Kellihers Garage Central Region Competition last Monday evening to Ballymac B. We started the half well and took the game to the visitors with some good team play and great scores from Jack, Fionn and Samuel with Darragh scoring our only goal as we lead by a point at half time. However, in the second half as has become the trend in our recent matches, we committed too many unforced errors which played into our opposition’s hand and they duly took advantage scoring 3 goals which ensured they advanced to the semi-finals which was played last Wednesday. We are taking a very short break to recharge and will regroup in time for the Tralee and St Brendan’s U15 District Championship with details TBC.
Seniors
We lost our second-round match in the Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Championship at home last Sunday afternoon to Annascaul, leaving us in a precarious position heading into our last match in 2 weeks’ time.
We started poorly and by 12 minutes, we were down by a goal scored by Fionn Coakley following a rare Paudie Bailey error and they further added 3 more points, 2 of which were from play. David O’Callaghan got us on the score sheet after 13 minutes and this was followed by a Kieran Hurley free. However, the away side hit another purple patch and scored another goal and 3 points to lead by 9 with about 5 minutes of the first half left and by the end of the half, they led 2-9 to our 4 points.
We started brightly in the second half and within a minute, Kieran Hurley pointed from close range and we added 2 more points including a 45’ taken by Liam O’Sullivan and another Kieran effort following great work put in by Cormac Lynch who took the game to the opposition every time he got on the ball. Annascaul’s Killian Falvey scored 3 straight points to further increase their tally but we rallied late in the game with a Fergal O’Brien point and a late Gary Savage goal, but unfortunately this was the last kick of the game as they ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-12.
Our good plays came in patches and despite once again missing many regular starters, but we gave our opposition too much room to punish us in the first half. However, our second half performance was much improved, and we will hope to build on that when we travel to Brosna for our must win round 3 game which will be played on Sunday 26 September at 2.30pm.
