Juvenile Academy

U5’s: A super turnout of boys and girls enjoyed the last day of the heatwave. The session included skills stations, good old tag chasing and everyone’s favorite Sharks and Fishes to finish off. Ana and Ava Durran have been getting better every week and this week they both impressed their coaches and won joint players of the week.
U7’s: Numbers were low this morning but that didn’t deter the boys and girls who all put in a huge effort during the session. As always big thanks to all the trainers, John, Martina and Paul.
U9’s: The u9s had a training session this morning, even though numbers were a bit down (understandably!) the lads again showed great attitude in the heat. We practiced our hand passing, soloing and pick-ups and the boys brought all these skills into a very competitive game. Cian O Regan showed great awareness, and Dylan Murphy defended very well along with paddy Costello. Congrats to Noah Fehily who got player of the week after working hard on his skills. We will train next Sunday at 10.30 am again.
U8 Girls: Great mornings football at John Mitchells this morning. A very happy birthday to Eve O’Sullivan .. a great way to start your day! It was the first ever match for Eve, Rachel, Cara, Amelia, Rosie & Rosa! Great performances & team spirit! Thanks to Clodagh & Erica our 2 senior girls for mentoring the younger girls & a special mention to Emma Gilbride for her work rate & point & goal tally!! Rosie managed to clock up a hat trick of goals in her first ever match!
U10 Girls: Our U10 girls worked really hard in the heat this morning against a tough John Mitchels side. Everyone tried out different positions and worked well as a team working the ball up the pitch. Every player did a job for the team in every position with high scoring from our midfielders and forwards who took their chances well scoring at almost every opportunity they had. This team has come on leaps and bounds over the past few weeks and well deserved the win this morning. Well done girls keep up the good work
U11’s: St Pats U-11’s were in Co League action last Thursday. We travelled to sun drenched North Kerry to play Beale. It was a wonderfully contested game, where both teams gave it their absolute all right to the final whistle. Every one of our St Pats future stars did their club proud on the night. The whole team put in a great effort for the entire game. Rylan Flynn had a great game in goals, Eddie Hayes, Grace Costello, Sarah Greaney, Sam Smith and Jake Kelly defended brilliantly at the back. Tommy and Hugh Costello worked their socks off around the middle. Up Front, young Darragh Flahive lead by example and was ably assisted by Jace Flynn, Dee Hanley, Paddy Flynn.
Training continued Sunday morning with Stephen, Ethan, Sean and Aiden really setting the tempo for the session. It’s important ye all continue to attend our games & training sessions and also keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. The training and match schedule for the week will be circulated to ye shortly. Naomh Pádraig Abú!!
U12 Girls: We had 8 under 12’s girls in a very hot sunny Sunday morning. We had our side of the pitch to ourselves as under 8’s & 10’s were away to John Mitchels, so we had plenty of room.
We started with practicing kicking into goals with both legs, followed by drills with instructions by Siobhan. We focused on hand passing in a box with a defender and attacker in the middle and the wall was the attackers safety to pass to.
This was followed by a 4-a-side drill in a 10 x 10 metre box where the girls had to focus on hand passing, or punt kick to each other and scored only when they ran through the tiny poles as goals. We finished with a short match and taking 45’s.
Congratulations to Tara Dowling on receiving player of the week and impressing coaches today!
The take home task today was taking a 45, so keep up the practicing at home girls.
U13’s: In phase 2 of the county competitions, we have been grouped with Duagh, Gneeveguilla, Asdee/Ballydonoghue/Ballylongford/Clounmacon & Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane. This will give us 4 competitive games and the first game is on Sunday next. Venue & opposition tbc.
U15’s: Hard luck to our u15’s who lost out to Skellig Rangers GAA Club in the Lee Strand U15 Div 8 County League Final last Wednesday evening in Killorglin. Our boys got off to a whirlwind start with all their three goals coming in the first half; all coming from the boot of Darragh Murphy and we led by 5 points at half time. However, Skellig were rampant in the 3rd quarter converting 3 unanswered goals putting them in a comfortable position going into the final water break. We fought hard in the last quarter and brought it back to two points with 3 minutes to go. But Skellig scored a goal on a counter-attack to put some distance between the teams and they tacked on two more points before the final whistle. Final Score: Skellig Rangers GAA Club 6-8 St Pats 3-10
Team: Thomas Sheehy, Enda Sheehan, Eddie Stack, Garry Scollard, Leo Keane, Zack Howarth, Rory Kelliher, Ben Sharp, Diarmuid Waugh, Jack Costello, Fionn Dairo, Daniel Sheehy, Darragh Murphy, Killian O’Majony, Aiden Hayes, Roddy Clifford, Darragh O’Brien, Mark O’Brien, Shane O’Sullivan.
Thanks to referee Brian O’Sullivan from St Michaels/Foilmore GAA Club for doing a great job officiating and also to Laune Rangers GAA Club for hosting the game.
We are very proud of our boys’ efforts and we look forward to some more great football from them this summer.

U16 Girls: Training continues this Monday from 6.15 to 7.15pm.
