Juvenile Academy

U5’s: The girls and boys put in great effort during Sunday’s session with skills sessions and fun warmups. The session was finished off with some small matches and Ailíse Hayes excelled, scoring goals, passing and really showing why she deserved player of the week. U7’s: Great turn out for the under 7s today despite the wet weather once again. Both the boys and girls enjoyed the session. Players of the week were Aaron Costello and Anna Poff. Special mention to Ciara Byrne who was last week’s player of the week. A big thanks to Mike Higgins and Micheal Sheehan who helped out as well as John, Noel and Paul, our usual coaches.
U9’s: We had another good session with the u9s in the rain, we practiced our sidestepping and hand passing and had a very competitive game where Dylan Passway, Cian O Regan and Rylan Flynn, who scored the winning penalty, all had fine games. Congrats to Dylan Murphy who got player of the week with fantastic teamwork and skill improvement. We play Fossa next week and will be in touch with parents with the exact day and time in the coming days.
U11’s: On the evening of the 8th July our U11 panel had their last game in this round of the Lee Strand County Go –games series when we played the Annascaul Under 11’s on our own pitch. Both teams had a big turnout so we divided our panel of players into two teams: The Windmill and Bridge. The Bridge team had a challenging first half and found scores hard to come by against a very skilful young Annascaul team. For the second half, James and Lainey joined the Bridge side and they made an immediate impact and the whole team played well in the second half, particularly Paddy and Jake. On the other pitch, the Windmill team had a great contest with a good Annascaul side. It was a good team performance all round. Lily particularly impressed the coaches with her skill and tackling technique. Many thanks to Annascaul for the sporting manner of their play and to our two young local referees Adam and Shane. Training continued on Sunday morning where we were delighted to see the return of Sean and Aidan to the club grounds. We had a good skills session followed by a energetic practice match. The Go games and extra practice at home has really brought on the group and it’s encouraging to see our young players develop this year. We are hoping to have a challenge game this Thursday or Friday evening, we will update the Whatsapp group with details when confirmed. Training continues on Sunday at 12 noon at St Pat’s club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98. A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at training and to register on www.foireann.ie U8-12 Girls: Well done to all the girls who attended this morning and to our player of the week Lainey Costello. The U8’s boosted their numbers today as they were joined by some of the U7 girls. This was a great addition of energy and fun and allowed for an energetic match with Mary-Kate O’Shea and Ruby Ekren impressing in the match. There is a potential U8 match coming up Sunday 25th July against John Mitchells so keep up the practice girls! Under 8 training will go ahead as usual next Sunday morning.
Well done also to all the Under 10’s &12’s who worked on match play preparation, focusing on team positioning, calling names and creating space. The U10’s and U12’S will be playing a game this Saturday 17th July in Camp football grounds. All players to be there at 3:30pm. There will be no training for the U10’s & U12’s on Sunday morning 18th July.
U13’s: Though we were missing some of our squad due to injuries and holidays, we acquitted ourselves very well in the final group game of phase 1 v Cordal played on Satuday last. Overall this team is developing very well and with continued commitment, we will prepare for the next phase. Phase 2 groups and fixtures will be announced in the coming week.
Team-Jack Costello (Captain), T Costello, H Costello, J Daly, G Scollard, B Leen, J Cashman, F Carmody, J Flahive, C Sheehan, L Passway, R Culloo, J Cashman, M Quilligan & D Murphy
U15’s: We played our last round match last Wednesday evening in Blennerville against Annascaul/Lispole and it turned out to be a very exciting affair as we went point for point against our much-fancied neighbours.
Playing with a very depleted team, we allowed the away side plenty of possession, but they kicked a number of wides and were ahead by 3 points to 2 at the first water-break. We conceded a goal shortly afterwards, but Thomas made amends by preventing another goal almost immediately after. We scored a goal of our own through Aiden as
the first half ended 1-5 to 1-6 in favour of the away team.
The second half was very keenly contested with great play from both sides, however as the match progressed, our boys tired out and the opposition pulled away from us and ran out 2-12 to 2-6 winners.
Well done to all 15 who tugged out, particularly the two U13’s, Garry and Liam who played for the first time and acquitted themselves very well.

By virtue of our fourth-place finish, we will play third placed team in 7B, which is Beale in the cross-over semi-finals of Div 8 U15 County League this Wednesday, July 14 in Ballybunion at 7pm.The other semi-finalists are Skellig Rangers V Dromid/Waterville. Best of luck to all involved.
U16 Girls: Training continues this Monday from 6.15 to 7.15pm.

Minors
Our U17’s made the long trip to South Kerry last Monday in the second round of the Central Region U17 competition but were defeated by Dromid/Waterville in a very high scoring match. Full time scores were Dromid/Waterville 5-17 St Pats 4-07. Well done to all who made the trip.
Our next match is this Monday, July 12 and it is a home match against Templenoe/Sneem/Derrynane at 7.30pm. Best wishes to the team.

Senior B
Last Friday evening in Blennerville and under wet conditions, we took on Ballymac B in a rescheduled Tralee/St Brendan’s District back game but failed to make home advantage count as we lost by a goal.
The match itself can best be described as a game of two halves. A stunning display by our lads saw us scoring 5 points before the visitors manged to get on the score board but after the first water-break, a fluke goal was scored by Ballymac to bring them right back into the game despite our lion’s share possession of the ball as the first half ended 6 points to 1-3.
For some reason, we didn’t get going this half and kicked many wides whereas, Ballymac were more clinical and made this count as they ran away 1-8 to 8 points winners.

Seniors
Following last week’s break, our Seniors are back out playing Round 4 of the SFL against our St Brendan’s District neighbours, Churchill. This match has a throw-in time of 2pm this Sunday, July 18. Please come out and support the team.

Best Wishes/Congratulations
Congratulations to our clubmen, manager James Costello, kit man Johnny Enright and the entire Kerry Minors panel on winning their semi-final of the 2020 Electric Ireland Minor Football Championship against Connacht champions, Roscommon on a scoreline of 3-21 to 2-13 and will now face Derry in the final next week, July 17/18. This will be Kerry’s sixth All-Ireland MFC final appearance in seven seasons.
Congratulations to the Kerry Senior Football team on their victory over Munster Champions, Tipperary and will now face Cork in Killarney in the Munster Football Final taking place in two weeks’ time.

Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of Eileen Murphy Annascaul.
