Juvenile Academy

U5’s: Training this was super fun with everyone putting in great effort. Skill drills were followed up with some of the kid’s favourite games to finish.
U7’s: Another great session was enjoyed by this young group of emerging stars, with a lot of fun and games had during the hour. It is great and encouraging to see all the kids improving weekly. Thanks to all the trainer and mentors. Training continues next Sunday in our club grounds in Blennerville from 10.30 to 11.30am.
U9’s: Another great session where we practiced our catching, goal kicking and running into space. The games were competitive as always with AJ Turner (who battled through a sore leg), Bruce McMillan and Tiarnán Scanlon all playing very well and congrats to Killian Enright who caught the eyes of all coaches and got the player of the week award. We host Keel in the Go Games at 12.30pm next Sunday in St Pats.
U11’s: We had our second Go Game last Friday evening in Blennerville against a very strong Na Gaeil “B team”. Our St Pat’s players tried their best but it was very difficult against very skilful opposition who were in good form. A number of our players got on the scoreboard including James Daly, Hugh Costello, Rylan Flynn and Thomas Colivet. We had 23 players in the squad so it was a challenge to give everyone as much game time as we would have liked but every player got game-time in each half. We saw some good performances on the day from Tommy Costello, Noah Flynn, Paddy Flynn, Charlie Sharp, Lainey Costello, Sarah Greaney, Ashling O’Mahoney and Alannah O’Mahoney. At our second session on Sunday, our under 11’s were again provided with perfect conditions on the club’s main pitch. We had a fully active session right from the warm up, with fun games to work on hand passing and soloing skills, followed by a very competitive practice match. We would like to see the kids get in more practice at home. This week’s challenge is to complete at least five solos every day using each foot. Start at jogging pace and increase speed according to ability to keep it challenging. We look forward to seeing the progress at the next session. Our Go Games continue on our home pitch on Thurs 1st July at 6pm vs Lispole. This is only our 3rd game and gives all our young players another opportunity to experience playing games. Please be at the pitch by 17:40. Health Questionnaire to be completed beforehand on Thursday at www. foireann.ie. Please remember that all players must wear a gum shield to all matches and training. Training resumes at the club grounds in Sunday at 12 noon.
U8-12 Girls: Another lovely morning at St Pats for training by U8, U10 & U12 age group. Norma Flynn has the older girls well drilled now and working on getting into space in match play. A special mention to Tara Dowling who really got into the game this week. Great attendance & commitment by this group, keep up the practice at home ahead of some more friendly upcoming games. Under 10s enjoyed coaching by Nigel Hennessy culminating in a competitive match in all the girls. Alannah & Aisling O’Mahony impressed with their skills and are a great addition to this group for upcoming matches. Very well done to Emma Lacey who showed the practice paying off with her twin Jessica. Emma’s left leg solos & kick passing earned her player of the week trophy. Fiona led the under 8s with mentor Labhraidh Costello were with this this small group. Emma Gilbride as always impressed with her determination & skills. Keep practicing kicking & hand passing at home girls & our 4 step rule. Go St Pats!!
U13’s: Well done to our U 13s who played very well against Gneeveguilla on Sunday last. We started brightly and scored 2 early goals but conceded late in the first half to leave the half time score 2-07 v 2-03. Some well worked team scores and stout defending enabled us to win on a final score of Gneeveguilla 3 10 v St Pats 5 15. Team J Bowler (Captain), B Leen, J Costello, B O’Leary, L Passway, S Enright, M Quilligan, M Enright, G Scollard, L O’Connor, D Murphy, J Flahive, C Keane, J Cashman, R Culloo, C Sheehan.
We have a busy schedule with our next game in Blennerville at 6pm on Friday July 2nd v Scartaglin followed by another game v Moyvane on Sunday July 4th also at 6pm. All support would be greatly appreciated.
U15’s: We played Gneevguilla last Wednesday evening in a Lee Strand U15 CL fixture and came away with a hard-fought victory by the tightest of margins in a very entertaining evening of football.
From the throw-in which was won by Ben,we dominated early proceedingsleading to 2quick points from Samuel. However, the away side began to find their range and our boys losing possession in key moments, led them to put up some good scores but we rallied and scored 2 goals through Sam and Aiden as we led at halftime by 2-7 to 1-8.
We played much better in the second half but Gneevguilla also raised their game and scored 3 goals to take the lead with minutes left to play. Fionn scored a goal in injury time and this was followed by another point by Sam as we saw out the game on a score line of St Pats 3-14 Gneevguilla 4-10.

It was morale boosting victory and all the boys that played gave it their all. Top scorers for us were Sam (1-6) and Fionn (1-5).

We trained as usual on Sunday and have our next game in the CL this Wednesday, June 30 in Portmagee against Skellig Rangers at 7pm.

Our next game is away to Ballyduff this Tuesday evening at 7.30pm.
