There was no winner of our Club Lotto Jackpot of €6200 on Sunday night last. The numbers drawn were 03, 13, 18 & 26. The five €30 consolation prizes went to: 1. Elaine Daly Kerins Park, 2. Many thanks to all who contribute to our weekly Club Lotto. The Club cannot emphasise enough the importance of our members promoting the Club Lotto among family, friends and work colleagues. The Covid-19 restrictions have seriously hampered our fundraising and income over the last 15 months. The Lotto is now a critical source of funds for the Club. Juvenile Academy
U5’s: Training this was super fun with everyone putting in great effort. Skill drills were followed up with some of the kid’s favourite games to finish. Tyler Purcel has been excellent every week and his hard work paid off winning player of the week this week.
U7’s: Another great turnout last Sunday morning with our boys and girls having lots of fun learning their skills. Thanks to all the trainer and mentors.
U9’s: Well done to AJ who put in an outstanding display to take home the player of the week award. His fielding, passing and work rate caught the coaches eyes. Jayden Sinnott, Darragh Sheehan and Oscar Curran all stood out as did the ‘Rabona’ penalty by Rilan Flynn. Our u9s play their first games of the season when we make the journey to Gneevguilla to take on the locals in some fun games this Tuesday, 22nd. Throw in is 6:30 and we ask all players to arrive at 6:10.
U11’s: Our long-awaited Go Games finally got underway last Thursday evening against Castlegregory at Páirc an Caislean. It was a great contest with a fine display of football from both sides. In the first half, St Pats played into a strong breeze and struggled to get scores while Castlegregory were scoring freely. However, St Pats fought on bravely; Hugh Costello and Ethan Lacey got a couple of scores each, then Thomas Colivet nicked a goal just before half time. That was a sign of things to come because, with the wind at their backs, St Pats fortunes continued to improve in the second half. Sarah Greaney and Eddie Hayes were solid in defence. Rian Flynn and Rylan Flynn dominated possession in midfield, and up front Jace Flynn capped a fine display with a spectacular goal from long range. We had eighteen players available and they all got game time and impressed the coaches. It was great to see the “Silent sideline” was respected from both sets of coaches and supporters. At our second session on Sunday, our under 11’s were again provided with perfect conditions on the club’s main pitch. We had was a fully active session right from the warm up, with work on tackling skills, followed by a very competitive practice match. We would like to see the kids get in more practice at home, this week work on soloing the ball. Our series of Go games continues this Friday against Na Gaeil at St Pat’s club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98. Training resumes at the club grounds on Sunday at 12 noon at A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at the maches and training, and to register and complete the Health checks in advance at www. foireann.ie
U9-12 Girls: We had a great turn out again this morning despite the lack of sunshine. Pod 1, 2 and 3 were divided by age: under 8s, 10s and 12s. We had a large number of under 10s and 12s, so we will look for challenge matches for them soon.
In pods 1 and 2, today’s session was based on match play by older girls and bringing on younger girls with five aside matches and we had encouragement from mentors Labhraidh & Kayla joining in. These girls are coming on with skill and fitness.
In pod 3 we played a challenging match with six aside, with a special mention to Eve O’Sullivan’s Dad for helping out in goals. We can see the girls improving each week in their skills and performance as we get them to play different positions in the field every week. We had plenty scoring on both sides from Lainey Costello, Lilly O’Brien, Eve O’Sullivan and Amie Turner.
A special mention goes to Katelyn Laide who got player of the week and impressing her coaches by picking up the skills after just starting.

U13’s: Our boys showed fantastic courage and teamwork to earn a well-deserved draw in Ballybunion on Sunday last.
We started brightly and went into a 7 point lead but the locals dominated the 2nd quarter and led by 2-05 v 3-06 at half time. It was even in the 3rd quarter and we narrowed it to 2 points through great teamwork. Beale scored a further point but St Pats through a range of passing found the net with a superb goal. We drew level and were on the attack looking for the winner when the final whistle sounded. This was our first outing of the season and we look forward to next week when we travel to Gneevguilla with the match throwing in at 6pm. Our boys should be very proud of their skills and application and the return of some unavailable players will give us another boost as we continue in our league.
U15’s: We had a bye in the Lee Strand U15 CL last Wednesday evening but travelled to Duagh to take them on in a challenge game played under good, dry conditions. It was a very entertaining but competitive match. Well done to both sides as they served up some excellent scores with some great skills on display.Once again,it was a great workout for our boys and hopefully will use it as a spring board to greater heights in future.
We trained as usual on Sunday and have our next game in the CL this Wednesday, June 23 in Blennerville against Gneevguilla at 7pm.
U16 Girls: Our U16 girls were defeated by a very strong Duagh team last Tuesday evening in our first game in 2 years.
Our next game is away to Churchill in the Spa pitch this Tuesday evening at 7pm.
Minors
Our Minors took all the points at stake when they welcomed Dr. Crokes B to Blennerville last Thursday evening for a round 2 MFL encounter.
We took the game to the visitors right from the throw-in but slowly allowed them settle back in the game as they led by 1-5 to our 6 points by half time. We upped the tempo in the second half and played some great football that we knew they were capable of. We also defended well and more importantly, reduced the visitors to a single point this half as we closed out the game on a score line of 0-11 to 1-6.
All our players put a good shift in but Adam Hegarty was immense with his work rate, vision and to cap a great performance, he scored 3 points including an audacious effort from a very tight angle, captain James Dowling was also in great form and kept on playing even with a bad shoulder injury sustained during the game. He led by example and also pulled off a “Donaghy/Darragh O’Se” style fielding when he plucked the ball from the air to prevent a score.
Our next match is this Thursday evening, June 24 at home to Laune Rangers B. The match throws in at 7.30pm.
Senior B
Our senior B team are away to Churchill B this Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in Churchill’s new pitch. Competition is Tralee/St Brendan’s Junior League.

Division 3A County Senior Football League Rd. 2 Ardfert 0-12 St Pats 1-10
Daylight robbery in Ardfert is best described for our showing in the “St Brendans Derby” as we snatched all the points at stake from the clutches of Ardfert last Sunday afternoon in a round 2 County League fixture. Trailing by a point in injury time, Brendan Poff scored 2 successive points to ensure that we registered our first win.
Playing under dry but dull conditions and against the wind, our first point was scored by David O’Callaghan in the second minute when Liam Poff won Ardfert’s kickout and quickly released the ball to Gary Savage who fed David to tap over. Within a minute, Ardfert’s Darragh Courtney levelled but were soon trailing again after Willie converted a free. The game’s only goal came in the tenth minute when Kieran Dwyer made his customary darting runs from our half and carried the ball from our half-back line and released it to Eoin Greaney who slotted past Nicky O’Sullivan to put us 3 ahead. We would have put the game to bed but for the successive saves by Nicky denying David twice in 3 minutes. Ardfert defended in numbers and threw 13 men behind the ball making it difficult for our attackers to find a way through but after a series of passes, Eoin O’Carroll took responsibility to put us 5 ahead. We released our hold on the game and allowed Ardfert to score 6 unreplied points to lead by 1. Willie converted a free late in the half leaving both teams level on 0-8 to 1-5 at half time. The second half started cautiously with both teams sparring and trying not to make any costly mistakes. It wasn’t until the 4th minute that Paudi was called into action, stopping a goal bound effort. Ardfert’s Christopher Nolan converted a free a minute after for the half’s first point. Luke Mulligan and another long-range point from Willie ensured that we were a point ahead but Christopher levelled once again. From this point on, the home side took control of the game, turning us over time and again and gaining control in the middle of the pack, which resulted in 2 more points from the home side, the last of which was a 29th minute free once again converted by Christopher who took his personal tally to 7 having scored 5 from frees. Willie also converted a free on 30 minutes to leave us trailing by a point. Ardfert tried to run down the time by retaining possession but we had other ideas with Brendan scoring twice in injury time to ensure our first victory this year.
Best wishes to Breandain Savage who had to be substituted as a precautionary measure after sustaining a head injury following a clash of heads. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Congratulations
To the students of Derryquay National School, especially our St Pats boys and girls who graduated last week. We wish them the best of luck as the continue their transition into “big” school in September.
1921/2021 Commemoration
A commemoration of the Truce of 1921 will take place in Robert Emmet Park on Sunday, 11 July 2021, at 2.30pm. This will celebrate the ending of the Irish War of Independence on that day one hundred years ago.
The members of the Blennerville volunteers will be remembered at this event and local historian, Martin Moore, will give a short talk on the involvement of the Blennerville Volunteers in the fight for Irish freedom.
All are welcome.
