There was no winner of our Club Lotto Jackpot on Sunday night last. The numbers drawn were 01, 17, 22 & 28. The five €30 consolation prizes went to Gerard O’Donoghue c/o PJ Higgins, Jim Keane c/o Keane’s Bar, Bridget Boyle Derrymore, Maurice Trant Curraheen and Ruby Lyons c/o Tony Casey.
Next week’s Lotto will have a Jackpot of €5,900 and the draw will take place on Sunday night May 19th in Keane’s Bar. Lotto tickets can be purchased online, from any club officer or at the following outlets: Seamus O’Sullivan Master Butchers, O’Shea’s Shop and Service Station, Poff Motors, Noyeks, Byrnesworth, Rock Inn, Dwyer’s Bar, Skelper Quane’s, Betty’s Bar and Keane’s of Curraheen.
Dingle Way Challenge 2019
Our annual Dingle Way Challenge coming up on 2nd June (June Bank Holiday weekend) is upon us and as usual, walkers will have a couple of choices, both of which takes in breathtaking views. Think Luke Skywalker, Páidí Ó Sé and Tom Crean – all in one day!!! Juvenile Academy
U6: We had a fun session in the sun this morning with 17 players. It was great to welcome back Liam Callaghy on his holidays (Maurice Hannafin’s nephew) and a warm welcome to new comers Seodín and Tiernán Scanlon who showed us excellent skills for their first visit to St Pats.. all that home practice is paying off!! We had enough for 2 matches today which gave all players lots of ball handling.. very well done to all, special mention to Rachel Colivet for her quick side stepping feet!! Eanna showed us an excellent display of skills for his age and won the trophy for his efforts! Next week we train as normal at 10.30am. On Sunday 26th May U6s will play matches amongst ourselves on the AstroTurf at 12.30-1.30 while the older age groups face Listry on the grass pitch. At 1.30 we will offer refreshments for all while the senior St Pats and Listry teams warm up. We will don our St Pats red and white & wave our flags to cheer our Clubs out of the dressing rooms for a 2pm kick off. Support at all matches would be greatly appreciated, we hope this will be a fun family day out. Gooooo St Pats
U8: Well done to the 21 boys and girls who put in a great session in the lovely sunshine last Sunday with coaches Joe, John and Roger. We started with kick passing followed by some handling and passing stations. After some fun games then with Roger, we had two games with some great performances by Protnu, Thomas Higgins, Blake and the two sets of twins! However, player of the week went to Isaac Price who was back to his best. We will participate in our first St Brendan’s Board Blitz on Tuesday night May 14th so we will have a report on this in next week’s notes. Training will continue next Sunday at 10:30am and the following Sunday May 26th, we will host Listry at the slightly later time of 12:30pm. We will play them along with the U10’s as a curtain raiser to the senior match at 2pm. Refreshments will be served after so it would be great if all the mum’s and dads will be there to support the players.
U10: The club hosted the St Brendan’s Board U10 blitz on Wednesday 8th with participating teams from Ardfert, Ballyheigue, Churchill and of course St. Pats. This was the first in a series of U10 games that will be hosted by each of these clubs. Well done to all our girls and boys who played very well in all their games, with very strong performances from Conor Sheahan, Lainey Costello and Blake Bowler. While all our players played well the exceptional performance of Gearóid Hingston in goals deserves a special mention. Thanks to all who helped in running the blitz particularly our Club referees.
It was back to training as normal on Sunday morning last where the under 10 squad were put through a very energetic session with all of the players participating fully. We introduced a new 2 v 2 game that required a lot of movement and ball handling and by the end of our series of games all of the players were well warmed up! Some great attacking skills were displayed by Rhíanna, Lainey and Rían. Chloe was excellent on catching and passing ably supported by Tara while Eddie continues to display some great defending. At the end of another good session and following intense discussion between the coaches the Player of the Week trophy was awarded to James Daly….so well done to James and keep up the practice at home.
On Sunday May 26th, St. Pats Senior team will be playing a county league against Listry. As a curtain raiser to the senior game we are planning to play Listry in under-10 and Under-8 games so the academy will have a later start on the 26th, details will issue shortly from the Club.
U12: St. Pats under 12’s were training last Friday and again last Sunday. Everyone put in a great effort especially Daniel Sheehy, Luke Passway, Killian O’Mahony and Jack Costello. Phase 2 of the Co league will commence this week or next week. It’s important ye all continue to attend our training sessions and also keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. The training schedule for the week will be circulated shortly and when the fixtures for Phase 2 Co league are released our u12 parents will be notified. Naomh Pádraig Abú !!
U14 Girls: Our girls had another great victory last Friday in round 3 Non County Player County League against Ballymac B on a scoreline of 4-10 to 0-03. For the first time in months, we played on a full pitch with all our 15 players playing and contributing to this victory. As usual, a great display of skill, heart and teamwork was shown by the girls. Team: Emily Roche, Sarah Brett, Ailbhe Daly, Mia O’Brien, Caoimhe O’Sullivan, Rachel Mulgrew, Keelin Enright (0-03), Lisa Rowan (0-02), Kayla O’Connor (1-00), Caoimhe Dairo (0-02), Labhraidh Costello, Sinead Murphy (1-00), Emma Healy and Siobhan O’Sullivan (2-03). Due to Community Games, we won’t have training this week but will be back on Wednesday, May 22nd in preparation for the games ahead.
U16: After a pulsating game played last Monday evening in Blennerville, our boys narrowly lost their last round Central Region match against table-toppers, Ballyheigue on a scoreline of 5-13 to 5-08. We had the worst start conceding 5 goals in the first half but credit to our boys, they rallied in the first 2 quarters of the second half and managed to claw back the deficit to just a point but wasted chances, turnovers and some cute play from Ballyheigue saw them pull through towards the end of the half as they closed out the game.
Co. Junior Football League 2019
We kick-start our Junior Football League campaign away to Keel this Friday at 7.30pm. Best of luck to all involved.
Seniors
Our seniors were back in County League action last Saturday evening when they travelled to Ballydonoghue to take on the locals in a round 3, Division 3 fixture. With the team yet to record a victory in this competition, a win would have kick-started our league campaign after a good run in the Club Championship but unfortunately, it was not to be as we came away empty-handed. Final score was 2-12 to our 10 points. Our next match is a home game in Blennerville against Listry. This has been fixed for Sunday, 26th May at 2pm. We urge our supporters to turn up en masse and help lift the team as we go in search of the points at stake.
Community Games
BLENNERVILLE/BALLYARD ATHLETICS night will take place on WEDNESDAY MAY 15th in St. Pat’s GAA pitch, registration opens at 6.30 with the first race at 7.00pm. This event is for boys and girls from U8 up to U16. (You must be under age by July 31st). There will also be a Toddlers Race.
Cul Camp 2019 The St Pats Cul Camp will take place between the 5th and 9th of August from 10am to 2.30pm every day. The Camp provides boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 13 with action packed and fun-filled week of activities during the summer holidays. Cost is €60 per child with reductions (€55 for second child and €45 for third and fourth child) for additional members of the family. Booking can be made online at the Cul Camp official website or on the first morning of the Camp. Each child will receive FREE Kellog’s GAA gear and backpack.

Fógra
Dog poop might not be the most glamorous of topics but when our young players encounter it when training on the pitch as was the case last Sunday morning then highlighting it is necessary.
Okay, no one likes to scoop dog poop however picking up after your dog is important. No one at training or playing wants to accidentally step into, fall onto or catch a ball that has hopped into a pile of dog poop !
While we appreciate that dogs like open space to run around, the St Pats pitch being one such area, please respect those who play on the pitch and scoop the poop.
