Outline of information for the day
Overview
- This is not a Race, enjoy the scenery & the company.
- You must be over 18 to participate
- You must wear proper walking gear & clothing, be prepared for all weathers
- Please ensure you have adequate sun cream & water
- Pace your walking speed to finish within time
All participants are expected to complete whatever section of the DWC they undertake by 16:00 i.e. will have been signed off as completed along the route or in Cloghane by 16:00.

St Pats Club grounds Blennerville V92 RH98
Ultra-Route option 45km:
Car parking and check in will be in St. Pat’s GAA Club, Blennerville, Tralee (V92 RH98) from 4:15am to 4:45am and the Ultra Route bus will leave at 5am to take you to the start point.
Standard-Route option 20km:
Car parking and check in will be in St. Pat’s GAA Club, Blennerville, Tralee (V92 RH98) from 7:00am to 7:30am and the Standard Route bus will leave at 7:45am to take you to the start point.
Safety briefings will take place prior to bus departures
At Check-in you will be asked to
- sign a waiver
- confirm what stages you intend completing
- attend the safety talk
You will receive
- your participant numbers (i) to affix to your outer clothing and be clearly visible for the duration of the walk (ii) to affix externally to the bag you will have with you on the walk and (iii) to affix externally & clearly visible to the extra bag you may wish to bring. See note below re’ extra bag.
Extra bag
We are providing the facility to have one extra bag per participant brought to the end of each stage where you can access it, and again at the finish of the hike. We recommend that you pack spare dry clothes to change into if necessary and you may also wish to put in extra food, energy bars or liquids and talcum powder in this bag. This bag will be placed in a van for transport to the end of each stage in advance of your arrival there. Please clearly label (externally) your bag with your allotted number.
Emergency Numbers: Please note the phone numbers you will be given in the DWC booklet for you to call in an emergency or if you decide to drop out between checkpoints.
It is essential that you inform stewards of your movements on the route at all times. Please ensure that you check in at check points, this ensures that everyone enjoys the challenge in a safe manner.
We advise all participants to follow route markers and the directions of stewards along the route.
No rubbish: If someone ahead of you has inadvertently dropped food wrappers, bottles, etc. please pick it up and deposit at the next checkpoint.
No dogs: No dogs, on leads or otherwise, are permitted on the challenge
Barbeque and music from 4 pm to finish off the event in St Pat’s Blennerville …..stay, relax, enjoy some refreshments and chat.
LAST BUS FROM CLOGHANE TO BLENNERVILLE IS AT 4:30pm.
