St Pats Notes 11/05/2020

Lotto

With the recent government announcement on the extension of the Covid-19 restrictions, our club lotto remains suspended. We will hopefully review the situation during the week of the 18th May and will act in line with the Government / HSE advice at that time.
While this is a regrettable decision it is necessary to safeguard the health of our club officer’s lotto players and our many promoters.
We thank all our promoters and supporters of the St. Pats Club Lotto and we look forward to your support again hopefully in the not too distant future.

GAA Update

The GAA has confirmed that no official on-field activity will resume before July 20 and our facilities will remain closed until that date and will issue detailed advice before any return to play, outlining the steps needed to take to facilitate the re-commencement of our training and games, both in terms of physical engagement and around the use of our facilities.

The GAA Player Injury Scheme will remain closed until an official return to activity is confirmed.

Clubs are reminded that membership and public liability will need to be in place for the return of our activities and are advised to process same in the weeks ahead.

Allowing for the complexities associated with the current situation, the GAA continues to plan for the staging of this year’s Kellogg’s Cúl Camps and will communicate any changes to this approach with our clubs if they arise.

The maintenance of facilities can continue while adhering to the guidelines and as of May 18 construction work on our grounds is also permitted and clubs should liaise with their County Committees on this issue.

The GAA also underlines the importance of continuing to adhere to the guidelines to ensure that the country as a whole meets its targets in the coming weeks allowing us to make progress and facilitate a return to the games we love when it is safe to do so.

Phase one of Eased Restrictions

Phase One of the roadmap to easing of Covid-19 restrictions begins on 18 May. The main changes of that phase include<www.rte.ie/news/2020/0501/1136167-road-map-details/>:

* Up to four people who do not live together can meet outdoors while keeping at least two metres apart * Childcare workers can care for the children of essential healthcare workers in the healthcare worker’s home * Shops that were previously open in Tier 2 (for example: homeware, opticians, motor, bicycle and repair, office products, electrical, IT, phone sales and repair) can open * Outdoor spaces and tourism sites (for example: car parks, beaches, mountain walks) will be opened where social distancing can be maintained * Public sport amenities (for example: pitches, tennis courts, golf courses) can be opened where social distancing can be maintained * People can exercise – either on their own or in a group of no more than four people – where social distancing can be maintained and there is no contact with other people
There will be no change to the number of people who can attend funerals. Ten mourners remains the maximum attendance allowed.

Looking after your Mental Health during this Pandemic

For those of us struggling to deal with the restrictions due to the crisis, Yourmentalhealth.ie has plenty of advice and information to help deal with our mental well-being. Some tips are given below:
* Heathy lifestyle – It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle by eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly and getting a good night’s sleep. * Develop a routine – Maintain structure in your day for exercising, meals, work, relaxation, sleeping etc and try to stick to it. * Take a break – If working from home, ensure that you take regular breaks away from phone and computer. * Limit news consumption – Information overload can be very upsetting and cause stress. Take regular breaks from news and social media and rely on information from trusted sources such as HSE * Stay connected – Stay connected with family and friends through calls, video chat, text messages etc. * Ask for help – If you are feeling low, talk to someone you trust or contact a mental health support service.

Congratulations
Congratulations to Elaine Daly and Kieran Cahillane who got engaged recently.

Congratulations to Aoife Wallace who celebrated a significant birthday recently.

Communion and Confirmation

Due to the continued closure of all schools and the restrictions in place with regards to gathering of people together in one place, all Confirmation and Communion ceremonies are postponed. When the government relaxes these restrictions, there will be consultations between the school community, parents and each parish with a view to setting new dates.

Sympathy
The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of John Joe O’Donnell The Kerries West and Julia (Sheila) O’Shea née Regan Annagh and late of New York and Knocknagoshel.

Best Regards,
