Juvenile Academy

U6: We had a busy session this morning with lots of running & fun! Big welcome to Zach for his first time to St Pats. Our session was full of enthusiasm & movement. We need to keep working on our kicking & handling skills to progress to enjoying little games. Today we split the group with a small match for some of the more experienced kids & fun ball games for the younger ones. As always with such a big & mixed ability group it’s great that the parents are joining in & helping our player/ coach ratio! Adam Gilbride impressed with his improving kicking skills & Aaron Costello stood out in the match play. Well done boy’s & girls! Goooo St Pats!!!

U8: Another great turnout for the Under 8’s at last Sunday’s Academy session. After practicing our skills we went into some small sided games and were treated to a fantastic display of skills. The enthusiasm of everyone is what makes these sessions so enjoyable. It is important to try and practice some of the ball handling skills between the Sunday sessions so we would encourage all the under 8’s to practice on two days during the week for 15 minutes each day. Back next Sunday at 10am
U10: The wind blew and the rains fell and as we arrived at the training pitch we questioned why we hadn’t stayed in our warm beds! However, the wind quietened, the clouds parted and the sun shone…almost and our under 10’s were provided with good conditions to enjoy the all-weather pitches of the Kerry Sports Academy. Our session last Sunday was out of doors and was a fully active one right from the warm up. We continue to emphasise the skill of hand passing and it was obvious that a lot of our players had practiced at home since the previous session. Being able to kick pass the ball accurately is another fundamental skill and we had two very energetic games where all our young players got to put this skill into practice. A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at training.
Our Player of the Week trophy went to a very new member of the Club and for a new player is already showing good hand passing and catching ability so congratulations to Sunnite and keep up the good progress.
Training continues indoors next Sunday 9th February for 10a.m. to 11a.m. in The Kerry Sports Academy, Tralee IT North Campus.

U12: Our U12’s had another great session last Wednesday evening on our astro pitch. Numbers were again high and we hope to see all this Wednesday at the usual time of 4.45pm to 6pm. Don’t forget gum shields.

U14: Our U14 boys had a great training session on their first day back on our Astro pitch despite the cold conditions. They were soon warmed up after the first drill and it was great to see such enthusiasm within the players. We will be back training every Thursday evenings from 5.45pm to 7pm on our astro turf pitch. New members are also encouraged to come and give it a try.
U16: Training continues every Friday night from 5:30pm to 7pm on our astro pitch. For further queries, please contact Liam (086-3786468) & Luke (087-2862363).
