Juvenile Academy
U5
Another lovely summer morning for training and a good turnout. We practiced our ball skills, kicking passing and movement through an obstacle course. The blue and green team battled it out in a short match. Well done to our players of the week Brandon and Lucy.
U7
Training continued Sunday morning for our u7’s. Congratulations to George Poff who was the deserving player of the week.
U8 Girls
We had a smaller training group Sunday with holidays and the heat! The nine girls had a great coaching ratio and practiced a lot of kicking on the run, attack and defensive drills and bursting though defence. Edana impressed the coaches with her enthusiasm and work rate to win her the player of the week trophy. In match play the girls were given zones and are getting the hang of positional zones ahead of our upcoming blitz. We will host Annascaul, Dingle and Castlegregory this Friday 19th matches at 6pm sharp. Looking forward to a fun evening for all!
U9 Boys
We had a great start to the u9 session on Sunday with a tackling game followed by a very competitive relay race. We practiced our kick passing into the full forward line before we finished with a game where the red team came out on top after some great performances on both sides, especially from Flynn, the two Darragh’s, Eanna, Eoin mc and Cillian. Credit to all the boys for putting in such a brilliant effort in the heat.
U10 Girls
U10 Girls trained Sunday morning 14th of August at St. Pats pitch. Eleven girls played fun games coached by Kieran, Monica, and Nigel. They worked on their handpassing playing handpass touchdown to start, worked on their solos & shooting and finished with a match. Well done to Hannah Enright who won player of the week and had her scoring boots on in today’s training match. Well done Hannah and everyone keep up the good work and keep up the practice at home. See ye all next week.
U11 Boys
This week was a quite week of activity for our U11’s. We trained last Sunday week and last Thursday in sweltering conditions and fair play to all the boys who attended and put in such a good effort. Our game vs Templenoe that was scheduled for Monday 15th is postponed. We have arranged a challenge match against Churchill for this coming Thursday 18th at 6:15pm in Blennerville. Our next game in the Central Region Go Games is away to An Gaeltacht on Thursday Aug 25th.
U12 Girls
The U12 Girls had a treat this week when they went on a lovely trip to Kenmare adventure centre with their coaches. A Great day in the sun and lots of memories made for the girls who took part in the obstacle course and water activities. The U12 team and parents send our sincere condolences to Coach Therese and players Sarah, Meaghan and all the Greaney Family on their recent bereavement. Training was cancelled Sunday as a mark of respect to the late Mike Greaney. May he rest in peace.
U13
On Sunday morning last the U13 St Pat’s/ Kerins O’Rahilly’s had a B team game versus Ardfert in Central League. While our first half performance was competitive the second half was dominated by Ardfert who finished the game with a convincing win. The team have to move on quickly from this defeat as another Central League game is scheduled for Tuesday 16th in Blennerville when we face An Gaeltacht B. The Rose Cup makes a welcome return as part of the festival activities and many of our under 13 players will be participating in the blitz style competition.
