Juvenile Academy

U5’s: The first ever under 5 session was a great success. The wonderful weather drew a super turnout of 29 boys and girls. A fun warm up was followed with a variety of ball skills, games and obstacle courses. The level of effort and participation was great to see and Oisin Dunne stood out for his enthusiasm taking the player of the week award, Really looking forward to another fun morning next week and seeing who puts in the practice at home.

U7’s: Great turn out today with over 30 kids. Girls and boys of all ability. A big welcome to all the new parents. Hope to see ye all back next week.
U9’s: A great session was had on our first day back and with great numbers in attendance last Sunday morning. Looking forward to seeing everyone and we encourage all to keep practicising their skills at home.

U11’s: Our season finally got underway at 6pm last Friday evening at St Pats grounds in Blennerville. It was great to see so many familiar faces return to play on a beautiful sunny evening and we had a fun session with plenty of game time for all.. At our second session on Sunday our under 11’s were again provided with perfect conditions on the club’s main pitch. We had was a fully active session right from the warm up, with great effort by all. We continue to emphasise the accuracy of hand passing and kick passing. It was obvious that a lot of our players had practiced these skills at home over the break, especially Cillian Enright, Thomas Colivet, Rian Flynn and Noah Flynn. We finished with an energetic game where all our young players got to put this skill into practice. We also welcomed Charlie Sharp as a new member to the Club on Sunday and he immediately showing great commitment and kicking ability. A warm welcome to Charlie – we are always interested in new players joining our thriving club. Training continues next Friday 7th May at 6p.m. and Sunday at 12 noon at St Pat’s club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98. A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at training and to register on foireann.ie

U8-12 Girls: Our first session back after Covid restrictions lifting was a beautiful sunny morning at St. Pats. We had a strong showing of 25 girls, this was fantastic turnout for our small club!
The coaches spilt them into two age appropriate pods limited to 15 per pod. Pod 1 with the younger group and pod 2 with the older girls.
We started with a fun warmup, followed by some really fun games involving ball skills, tackling, defending, hand passing, kicking and goal scoring. This was followed by a mini match, where they demonstrated some great goal scoring, with great enthusiasm and showing great ball skill, tackling and defending.
Special mention goes to Sharon Enright who took home player of the week. A special mention also to our coaches, Fiona, Norma, Nigel and Siobhan and older player Labhraidh Costello.

U13’s: We had 2 well attended training sessions during the week with lots of guys catching up from last season. Training will continue on Wednesdays at 5.45pm and on Sundays at 6pm. We expect to have games in the next few weeks so keep up the training at home.

U15’s: We had 2 sessions during the week with the first training last Wednesday evening at 7pm and the other on Sunday at 6pm. Both sessions were very well attended. For any enquiries, please contact Joe Costello or Dipo Dairo.

U17’s: Our U17’s are back training Monday and Thursday evenings. For any enquiries, please contact Liam O’Sullivan.

Covid-19 Update
In light of the positive announcement by the Government late last week in relation to the further relaxing of restrictions for society generally and for Gaelic Games in particular, the following is what is proposed in the coming weeks: From 10th May – Outdoor training is permitted at adult level in pods of a maximum of 15 people (including coaches). However, games are not allowed and indoor facilities must remain closed. From 7th June (and subject to the Public Health situation at the time) – Club games will be permitted at all levels but must be played “behind closed doors”.

Club Membership 2021
The Closing date for Club Membership subscription has been confirmed for 31 May 2021. It would be important to ensure prior to players returning to GAA activity, that they are registered on the New Foireann System and can be accessed via the Club website www.stpatsgaclub.com or type www.foirean.ie into your internet browser. Members who set up a ‘ReturnToPlay’ account in 2019 to complete the Health Questionnaires can access their Foireann account by using the same logon id and password as used last year. If you don’t have a ReturnToPlay account then you can register a new account very easily on Foireann. Go to www.foireann.ie and follow the instructions for New user. If you go to the Club website www.stpatsgaclub.com further information is provided and if you encounter any difficulties send an email to Sean at treasurer.stpatricksblennerville.kerry@gaa.ie<mailto:treasurer.stpatricksblennerville.kerry@gaa.ie>

2020 Injury Fund Extension to 31 May 2021
Given that no activity has been possible for January to March 2021 a further two-month extension of Injury Fund cover has been ratified by Coiste Bainistíochta. This will now take the 2020 cover term up until 31 May 2021.
This means that the GAA Injury Benefit Fund cover remains in place based on existing 2020 team registrations. Units do not need to register or pay for their 2021 teams until re-invited to do so. Details with regards to registering and payment for the 2021 GAA Injury Benefit Fund will issue once there is more clarity from Government as to what the coming months may look like.
