Juvenile Academy
U5’s: Despite some very heavy rain prior to the start of the session we had 27 girls and boys join us for training. There was great participation all round and even with a strong wind there was some great kicking on display. Logan Breen was involved in everything and showed great effort and enjoyment earning him player of the week.

U7’s: We had a great turn out today despite the rain, we were able to break the kids up into 4 separate pods. Practising all different skill. A big congratulations to Madeline and Adam who were players of the week.
U9’s: We had a great turnout of u9 boys this week despite the weather conditions. Thomas Higgins, AJ Turner and Oscar Curran were in fine form. Darragh Sheehan kicked some incredible points from all angles into the wind and Noah Flynn seems to have got even faster after our break from football. Looking forward to next week already

U11’s: Our u11’s trained last Friday evening and Sunday morning. Our sessions mix fun games with skills development. This week we worked on punt-kicking, high fielding and teamwork. At the end of each session, we play an adapted game to work the new skills into a match environment. All our players showed great progress in fielding and finding a player in a space, especially Hugh Costello, Eddie Hayes and Stephen Enright. On Sunday, Ethan Lacey joined our group and he fitted in right away with his new team mates, and impressed the coaches with his concentration and kicking skills. A warm welcome to Ethan – we are always interested in players joining our club. We also welcomed Tommy Costello to the coaching team while he is recovering from injury. We are glad to have Tommy on board and wish him a speedy recovery. Training continues next Friday 7th May at 6p.m. and Sunday at 12 noon at St Pat’s club grounds in Blennerville V92 RH98. A reminder to parents that all players are to have a gum shield and to wear it at training and to register on foireann.ie

U9-12 Girls: We had a fantastic turnout of 27 girls in our U9-12 age group. Great to have so many girls from the community trying out football for the first time or coming back to have fun with the girls! With such great numbers despite the rain we had 3 pod coaching groups. The senior girls had fun skills box games and matches & the effort was fantastic by all the girls. Pod 2 had the turn of the trophy for player of the week. Grace Roche took the honours at only her second ever football session. The practice she put in this week was evident & really paid off! We had fun skills drills and a small sided match with great confidence by the girls. Amongst their peers it’s showing already in their kicking, tackling skills and confidence to ‘have a go’! Thanks to Kieran O’Shea for stepping up to the girls coaching now that we have so many numbers. Under his watch pod 3 had a great session with enthusiastic participation by the girls & special mention to Rosie Dennehy who got stuck in on her first day. It’s been fantastic to have the addition of Labhraidh Costello & Kayla O’Connor as older player mentors, they bring great inspiration & skills coaching to the younger girls. Any other older player girls are welcome to join our coaching team! Thanks for all the parental support with Foireann procedures & check in jobs. Much appreciated by all. Go St Pats!!

U13’s: The U 13s had 2 excellent and well attended training sessions during the week. These players have great skills & commitment and are eagerly awaiting their first game on June 13th. In the interim we will continue to practice and develop our team. Thanks to all parents for your cooperation.

U15’s: There was another good turnout for both training sessions during the week for our U15 boys who continue to fine-tune their skills ahead of their County League competition commencing on Wednesday, the 11th of June. For any enquiries, please contact Joe Costello or Dipo Dairo.

U17’s: Our minors are up and running and heading into their third week of training. Similar to last year, we have welcomed new players into this age group, which is great to see. Our coaches, Luke Mulligan, Kieran Dwyer, Eoin Greaney and Liam O’Sullivan (all current St Pats senior players) have created a great environment for the lads to develop and improve and that can only serve them well when matches resume in the weeks ahead. Having senior players coaching this age group also helps ensure our minors transition up to the senior team more easily in the years ahead. New players are still welcome to join and can make contact with the club through any of the social media platforms to get the ball rolling.

Seniors

After the successful return of our juvenile teams, it is the turn of our seniors to return to training as from this Monday, the 10th according to the latest government guidelines. We wish senior team manager, Liam Poff and the entire panel the very best for this season.

Covid-19 Update

From this Monday May 10th, outdoor training is permitted at adult level in pods of a maximum of 15 people (including coaches). However, games are not allowed, and indoor facilities must remain closed with the exception of toilet facilities.

Construction work at club and county grounds has been permitted from May 4th last. However, outdoor fundraising events on GAA property are not currently permitted. This includes drive in events (such as Drive in Bingo or Drive in Movies).

Club Membership 2021
The Closing date for Club Membership subscription has been confirmed for 31 May 2021. It would be important to ensure prior to players returning to GAA activity, that they are registered on the New Foireann System and can be accessed via the Club website www.stpatsgaclub.com or type www.foirean.ie into your internet browser. Members who set up a ‘ReturnToPlay’ account in 2019 to complete the Health Questionnaires can access their Foireann account by using the same logon id and password as used last year. If you don’t have a ReturnToPlay account then you can register a new account very easily on Foireann. Go to www.foireann.ie and follow the instructions for New user. If you go to the Club website www.stpatsgaclub.com further information is provided and if you encounter any difficulties send an email to Sean at treasurer.stpatricksblennerville.kerry@gaa.ie<mailto:treasurer.stpatricksblennerville.kerry@gaa.ie>

2020 Injury Fund Extension to 31 May 2021
Given that no activity has been possible for January to March 2021 a further two-month extension of Injury Fund cover has been ratified by Coiste Bainistíochta. This will now take the 2020 cover term up until 31 May 2021. This means that the GAA Injury Benefit Fund cover remains in place based on existing 2020 team registrations. Units do not need to register or pay for their 2021 teams until re-invited to do so. Details with regards to registering and payment for the 2021 GAA Injury Benefit Fund will issue once there is more clarity from Government as to what the coming months may look like.

Best Wishes

To James Costello, his management team and the entire Kerry Minors when they take on Roscommon in the 2020 Electric Ireland All-Ireland Minor Football Championship semi-final. The match will take place over the weekend of July 10th and 11th. Should they overcome Roscommon, the final will be played the following Saturday or Sunday. We wish him, Johnny Enright and the entire panel the best of luck.

The club would like to extend its sympathy to the families and friends of Joan Goodwin Castlegregory, John O’Connor Kilflynn, Norma Twomey Alderwood Road, Brodie Ui Mhuircheartaigh Dingle and Sheila Kelly Fenit.
